my daughter asked me why do drive-thru atm's have brail. I told her we should ask the almighty hordeking.(after she stopped laughing) we wrote to you.

Why does 7-11 have locks on the doors if they're open twenty-four hours? I bet you've never heard that one before, either.

All bank ATM's - even at the drive through window, are required to have braille writing b/c of the Americans with Disability Act. Failure to comply with the law subjects the bank to huge penalties and even lawsuits.

The blind are a special class and have been recognized as disabled much longer than any other group. For example, before there were Social Security Disablitiy Benefits, the SSA gave Aid to the Blind. Even the Old English Poor Laws of the 1200s recognized the blind (and put them into the class of "deserving poor" who were not tossed into prison for asking for alms)

In practice this portion of the ADA is ridiculous. Certainly, if banks would have handicapped accesable doors and parking it would benefit many more people than the small subgenre of the disabled, the blind drivers.

The law is an ass.

AL DUKES FAN - 7-11's have locks for several reasons the primary one being that many robbers prefer to lock the door behind them before pulling out their sawed off shotguns. We know how important it is to accomodate the criminals.

Oh yes and all 7-11's are closed when Ganesh's birthday coincides with a blue harvest moon.
