Is there such a thing as love?

I don't even know how to ask this question but, is there such a thing as love? It comes and goes...you feel it one moment and then you don't....people always talk about "true love"...blah blah blah....


Is there such a thing? I know it's a really vague question but I am worried. I was burned once before and I don't think I can ever love how I did before. I guess its because my defense is up. I just don't want to be alone for the reat of my life because I am scared to open up.

I don't want to be that lady with the 5 cats....








One thing I don't understand is why your Buddha is that color...it should be green....like kryptonite green.

ZEALANDGIRL - I can assure you that love exists in many forms. The love of a couple married for 25 years. The love of a couple after a few months. The love of a parent for his or her child. The love of friends.

Many (if not most) people have been burned by love at least once. Once burned, a person develops strong defenses to being hurt and errects barriers to prevent closeness. The barriers relax with time, although they are maintained (and should be maintained) to some extent.

Being in love means you're leaving yourself open to being hurt, because you care so much about the other person. Therefore they have more power to hurt you.

I am truly sorry you had this experience, but I can assure you that it does not mean you are doomed to a life of solitude. Give yourself a little time.
