I"d say the greatest moment was the game before Jackie played, since sports we're still fun to watch then.

My greatest Sports moment of all time has to be when I saw the Devils win the Stanely Cup in 1995. I was at the game and it was truly incredible. <P>
IT'S TIME TO PLAY THE GAME-AHHH!

I would have to say two...one was when the Isles won there fourth Stanley Cup in a row. Remember watching it with my father, and him saying that this team will never be forgotten no matter what happens.
My second GREAT sports moment, was when Kirk Gibson hit the home run in game 1 of the 1988 World Series. I am not a Dodgers fan in the least bit. As a Mets fan, I was pissed at that bastard for ruining our chance at that World Series. But remember him hobbling to the plate, was like a scene out of a dramtic movie like the Natural or something like that. And to see him hit that homerun, was like watching magic...couldnt believe that gimpy bastard hit that home run. It is a memory etched in my skull forever...and is a truly great sports moment

The last game at Boston Garden when all the Celtic greats came out on the floor. Bob Cousy inbounded a pass was handled by each player ending up with a layup by Larry Bird.
I also remember the 1980 Olympic hockey game when the U.S. beat the USSR then beat Finland for the gold.
But the greatest moment will be when the Sox win a World Series. Of course, I'll die before that happens.

The :03 before the commie Soviets were spoon-fed the Gold in Basketball.
Also, the 1980 USA hockey win over the USSR.
Of course, I can't forget November 1, 2000 when it was announced that the New York Dragons would play at the Nassau Coliseum.

White people are so scared..of black people...
i got a couple. Im a huge oakland raider's fan, so marcus allen's run in the superbowl win 38-9 over the redskins was great, and since im a huge Washington Capitals fan, Rod "1 goal a season" Langway's overtime winner against the rangers in th '90 playoffs...

For me it has to be the Mets winning the world series in '86. That year was filled with great moments, and I'll never forget being totally amazed by game six and seven.
But in the 90's there were moments too...being a Knicks fan there were ups and downs, but seeing that John Starks dunk against the bulls in the conference finals in 93 was a great moment. Also the Knick getting to the championship the next year and again in '99, the 4-point larry johnson play against the pacers that year...there were just tons of emotional ups and downs that were great.

There are so many great ones that have already been listed, so I am just going to choose from the moments while I have been alive (since 1978):
1. Giants winning the Super Bowl against Buffalo on the missed kick. I remember jumping around my living room!
2. Devils win the Cup in '95. I always loved the Devils and I was watching by satelite in Venezuela when they won.
3. Yankees win the first World Series in '96 since the year I was born!! Go Yanks!
4. and 5. - These are both games I attended at Texas A&M.
The first one was '99 vs. Texas, just days after the Bonfire collapsed and 12 students died. We were big underdogs and we came back and won that game.
The most exciting game I've attended was in '98 when Nebraska was ranked No.2 in the country and they came to A&M and we beat them 28-21.
God, I love football!!

personally, as a Mets fan, I was 14 and at game 6 in '86. I'll never forget when that ball went through Buckner's legs. That whole inning was incredible, that entire comeback happened with 2 outs.
I like my women the way I like my coffee, in a plastic cup.
Forgot one:
In 1976 or 1977 I was at the Calvin Murphy Basketball Camp at Quinnipiac University. Julius Erving was a guest speaker -- he was in his prime, big 'fro and all. I think he may have just gone to the Sixers from the Nets.
Anyway, he was describing that a basketball is 9" in diameter and that a basketball hoop is 18" in diameter. He then took off from the top of the key and dunked two basketballs at once!
I'm a Celtics fan but in his prime the Doctor was the shit. There would have been no Michael Jordan without Dr. J. I still think the greatest dunk of all-time is the one he made on Michael Cooper of the Lakers in the '83 Finals.

Yeah, Kirk Gibson's home run in the '88 World Series. I don't like the Dodgers or the A's, but that moment defined what baseball is all about. Goosebumps.
Also, The Rumble In The Jungle: Ali vs Foreman, 1971. Before my time, but I've seen the fight & "When We Were Kings" and it's a great sports moment in my books.

He made two shots in that game, not one. He went 2-18, 0-11 from 3 point range.
And in case you forgot, in game 6 he scored 25 points in the fourth quarter and missed a 3pointer at the buzzer only because Hakeem blocked it, because Starks was on fire in that quarter.

sorry i thought he only scored one basket
and that was the point Starks was mr 4th quarter for the knicks the season especially in the finals but when push came to shove he fell down
but dont get me wrong in my opinion Jon Starks was the heart and soul of the 93-94 Knicks he earned my respect i just thought watching him cry was funny
