I dont think that there is anything funnier than people born post 1977 walking arond in their little "punk" uniforms acting like they are a part of something vital and original when that scene has been driven into the ground over and over again since it peaked 25 years ago. There are a lot of great bands out there that have tha "punk" spirit, but don't have to dress like clowns to prove it. Face it, when the Sex Pistols dressed like that, it wasn't a "look".It was a combination of poverty and skilled marketing. Go read Johnny Rotten's comments on stuff like this and get a real laugh. '

I smash my fists into my face. I can feel it when I close my eyes. And this is good.

Stiff Little Fingers is the only band I can think of that can still say they're punk & mean it. They were around in 1977 & still play today, a little older and a little grayer. Damn fine band.

when "punk" start calling others "unpunk" then they're taking themselves way too seriously

Yeah but it's no worse/different than people born after 1967 who dress like hippies.

I find it funny when people that are supposedly punk can't for any reason call themselves punk but let other people call them punk, and if they call themselves a punk then they are no longer punk.
Clear enough for ya?

Shit. I'm sorry -- my post was NOT meant to be judgemental or insulting.

As I read it, I thought the original post was mocking kids today who dress like punks. MY point was simply that there are also some kids who wear tie-dyes like hippies did in the 60's and that all this means is that in both cases the "fashion" has lasted 25+ years.

BUT having reread the original post, I see that it was talking about BANDS of today.

I didn't the post carefully and was WAY offbase here. I'm sorry for coming across like an asshole and sounding like I was singling people out for insult.

Don't worry about times and shit , just because Sex Pistols and Rammones and so forth are the fore fathers of punk , doesn't mean they are the only ones. I say don't be so judgemental except for when you tool on this pop/punk shit today. Be as judgemental as you want against those teeny bopping faggots.
