i just want to let all the board members know how
pissed off i am today. a good freind of mine, named
jeff, died this week from a heroine overdose. jeff,
whom i haven't spoken to in a couple years just
becuase, was on his way back to reality, in rehab....
that one last time he wanted to visit the whore
called heroine killed him. he was unique i guess
you could say. complex code of ethics, god fearing,
modern day peace maker. almost a hippy meets
acid rock (if that makes sence). his mother said
today he had an affinity for the unusual... anyway.
it was the biggest waste of a life i've seen in a long
time. i am so fucking pissed at him, and i cant even
explain why.

but my quest for the king of all hordes is this: why
is it that some people can kick addiciton and others
cant?? i mean he VOLUNTERILY recoginized his
problem and went to his parents for help. his
sisters and parents accepted the situation. he was
in just about the best rehab money could buy... and
now hes in a fucking box. i dont get it. any input to
help me figure this one
out???????

first of all *hugs*
second, sometimes it's harder for some people to kick an addiction than others, it's not that they're weaker, it's just something that they have to work harder at. i know i'm not hk and this may not make sense, but i hope it helps explain it at least a little bit

CRAIG - I'm sorry about your friend. Although we discussed this last night I'm going to reiterate just a bit of our convresation for the benefit of anyone who wants to see it.

Drugs create many different types of dependancy; physical, psychological, chemical and emotional.

Even when a person recognizes that he is an addict and wants to change, the addictions constantly fight him. It hurts to give up these addicitions, particularly if they're not replaced by something else. (That's one reason why some people find god in rehab - it's a replacement for the drugs).

Your friend was not weak; indeed, he did something very difficult, he sought help. But even so, the heroin had a hold on him and ultimately the siren call of addiction proves irresistable to some.

Drugs are dangerous and potentially deadly.

Hey, I'm sorry. Please accept my condolences. The only "Heroin Chic" that should exist is not doing it.

Craig I sympathize with ya brother and know what you are going through. I had the same thing happen to me and the pain of my friends death to heroine still haunts me a bit till this day. It was only last year but I still get sad when I think about him and the way that he went out. It is definetly not a way that I wanna go out, and will not allow ANYONE else I know to die that way either. If beating the shit out my friend to make them aware of there problem is the way to do so then so be it I will do it...as long as it doesnt happen again.

Just know my brother that there are people here for you.
