What is a "Sweet Tooth" exactly?

All i know is that i get a craving for candy like no other time atleast once a month.I dont have a problem with it or anything along those lines,because i do enjoy my sweets very much.

I'm not the only one with a Sweet Tooth right?

EARTH2RON - 2 parellel studies (at Mt Sinai and Harvard school of medicine) have made remarkable discoveries regarding the "sweet tooth."

For the first time, a gene has been identified that allows the tongue to identrify sweet things and to crave them. The gene was first found in mice then in humans. It is just one of many phenomenal results of the human genome project.

The purpose of this gene? Being able to identify sweet things probably played a crucial role in our evolution. It enabled our ancestors to distinguish between bitter food, like poisonous plants, and sugary food, which is rich in energy.
