GOOD NEWS FOR DC LISTENERS!!!!!!

Don and Mike's contract with Infinity broadcasting ends next year. Because of the O+A rise in DC (lots of WOW stickers down here now! and their ratings are going back up!) D+M may move to a new station, not run by Infinity! So DC listeners brace yourself, I did some thinking, and I, DC Reed, made myself pretend program director, and heres what the 2003 line up could be.

5:45-10 Stern
10-3 Sports Junkies
3-7 O+A
7-11 Ron and Fez!
11-1 Washington Weekly!

Thats a huge possibility for DC next year, SIT TIGHT!

Id figure the Sports junkies would like to be able to watch all the sports they talk about, instead of doing a radio show during them. So its possible that they would move. Which would leave that 7-11 slot open, and seeing how R+F are rocking in NY, its almost dead certain, should the 7-11 slot open up, theyll get it here.

Which made their announcement yesterday about a drop in DC ratings so surprising. They're #1 in 18-49 but the lead has significantly dwindled.

Go there for DC ratings, they have the news about D+M's contract with Infinity, unfourtunately the site is poorly built, so its a bit hard to find. Basically casue of the radio war, D+M got pissed and the site says they were talking about moving to a clear channel broadcasting station.

AS for O+A, the site says they are still gonna be on 3-7 here for awhile longer, so i guess they are gonna get some more time to bring up the ratings.

More WOW stickers...apparently means less gooder down here in DC? How the hell are their ratings going down? I can actually mention hearing something on O&A and odds are someone will say "oh yeah, I've heard those guys"...

And what the fuck is "Washington Weekly"? Sounds suspicious...and if D&M leave WJFK, PLEASE let the Redskins' broadcasts go with them. Sure, it won't happen, but man, do those thing suck-and-a-half.

I think it more likely that Ron and Fez would take Don and Mikes spot at 11-3 then the junkies moving. There last ratings again through the roof.
#2 overall (behind WPGC a rap/hip hop station) but was #1 in all male demos more specifically a 16.8 for men 25-54 and a 13.8 for people 25-34, as dumb as jfk is i doubt they will mess with a show that gets those #'s. Who knows if R&F come to DC live from 11-3 perhaps N.Y. will get to hear a good "sports" show in the junkies instead of Ferrel

But because the Junkies have "established" themselves and a loyal fanbase, WJFK might actually try moving them earlier so they can have better ratings across the board if D&M leave...for O&A to stay alive here, they need a killer lead-in, and like them or not, D&M provide those numbers. If they bolt, WJFK will have a HUGE drop-off after Stern if a show as massively popular as D&M or the Junkies don't follow, and that's bad for O&A. The Junkies would do wise to move...most of their audience are either college kids/unemployed jackasses or middle age guys on their way home from work. Play them during the day when those older listeners could listen at work, they might get an even more solid fanbase...

I think generally the 11-3 slot is just garbage, like you said it is for the unemployed, the drunks, the college kids and with the junkies schtick they probably could survive the switch but it will be tough since alot of their callers are guys home from work. But you never know the junkies could be a powerful lead in like you say for O&A.
However it goes its going to be tough for JFK losing the D&M #'s, but hopefully it will work out for everyone.

The morning spot is the best place to be, why doesnt JFK put the junkies on then? Theyd have an even larger audience, cause the 15-25 yr old audience wouldnt be listening at 7 AM.

(Why drop stern, apperantly his ratings are dropping here pretty bad, like O+A's, and his show is a bit dated.)

I think another deterent in the junkies is the fact that 3 of them have kids and have wives that work and they do the radio show at night to even things out. But all this wont be for another year or so, so there is no sense in really getting any hopes up

God this will be great if it happens. The bad thing though is the wait. I read somewhere that the contract does end next year but not until August. so we still have a year to even start hoping.
