Horde King: This is response to your thread about President Bush being a mysoginist (which I don't agree with) because of his decision to defund the United Nations Populaton Fund.

I find the following subject totally frightening. We have one of the richest men on earth - Ted Turner, WHO BASICALLY BOUGHT HIMSELF Board membership of the very Foundation that is in question - the UN Foundation, by contributing one of the biggest contributions in history ($1 billion) to it because he wants to dictate to the world's women about how their uteruses should be run and how many children they should have!

EGOTISTICAL CONTROL FREAK GONE AMUCK!!

Ted Turner is already IN CHARGE of what the masses already see and hear on his television broadcasting stations. (He oversees the CNN global dynasty in America, Europe and South America. He channels programming for TNT, TBS, the Cartoon Network, New Line Cinema, Rough Cut, Castle Rock Entertainment and many other cable networks in his vast Time Warner conglomerate. He also owns the Atlanta Hawks NBA entry and the National League Atlanta Braves).

But, Ted, is not satisfied with his power and control with this, he states: "What we need to have for 100 years is a one-child policy....If everybody voluntarily had one child for 100 years, we'd basically be back to two billion people..."Quoted in Thomas Goetz, "Billionaire Boys' Cause," Village Voice, 7 Oct. 1997, 42.

Also, another billionaire, Bill Gates (who is in charge of the world's software MONOPOLY) also contributing millions to similar causes.

It is frightening to me, that men with so much power, are also influencing and dictating to women around the world about human reproduction! Something is terribly wrong!

Coco, are you one of these Catholics that believes Birth Control is evil? Just goes to show you how Outdated Christianity is for today's world.

One child sounds BRILLIANT!! That would help with the Population explosion!

You ever see how many kids Poor people have? THis would help families who can't afford multiple child, just NOT HAVE THEM!
And how many unwanted kids are there in the world?

Ted Turner for Ruler of the Universe! Bill Gates for Vice Ruler!

EVIL REIGNS!!!

[Coco, are you one of these Catholics that believes Birth Control is evil? Just goes to show you how Outdated Christianity is for today's world.]

Dictating to anyone about how many children they should have is offensive to most people of ANY religion.

It is frightening to me that a handful of billionaires in this country have so much power over people - of what they see on t.v., of what software system they use (Bill Gates), and now they are trying to dictate to the world's women on their reproduction.

COCO - Social scientists and ecologists have been advocating population cutbacks for the last 30 years or so.

But aside from the very legitimate issue as to whether it would be a good or bad thing to have such a policy, Turner can say anything he wants. The point of the UN Family Planning is that it provides OPTIONS. It does not force abortions, it does not force a one child policy. They are both individual choices, with the latter a political decision (based on overpopulation and limited resources) as well. Turner does not make policy.

The money he and gates donated provide for choice and that's what counts.

And by the way, needless to say, you're free to have your own opinions, they don't have to agree with mine. Only a select few people on this board don't have a clue about what this forum is about.

(in Ralph Wiggum voice)

I'M SPECIAL!!!!!

And Coco, I don't want to empose my views on ANYONE. If people want to have so many kids that they go homeless, let them. What I was saying is what Horde King pointed out. There should be OPTIONS!!

And further more, I think it FOOLISH of ANY RELIGION to block this choice to it's members, like the Catholic church still officially dictates.

EVIL REIGNS!!!

I don't think Ted Turner is forcing his opinion on anybody. Sure, he's a bombastic blowhard, but that doesn't make his opinion any more or less valid. I've always been a proponent of population control. Overpopulation causes starvation, poverty, pollution, and is a strain on the world's resources.
