Wht happened to 'The State'?

Remember them? They were the comedy troupe that had a show on MTV (I think) in the mid to late 90's. On-par with 'The Kids in the Hall', they were the funniest and smartest sketch comedy since Monty Python. I heard they were moving from MTV to CBS, but then they disappeared. Every once in a while, one of them shows up on a commercial. That one dude is in the new Snickers spots, but other than that it's like they've vanished completely. What happened? Did they break up? I don't know, but I'd like to.

I remember that show. . . but from what i remember some of "THE STATE" became the Upright Citizens Bragade. That show was totally classic. Both were frigin hysterical.

No one ftom the state was in the Upright Citizens Brigade.

The UCP was on Comedy Central, The State was MTV. Plus there's a gap of about 4 years from when the State finished and UCP began

I often wonder what happeend to the state as well. A partial rundown of the cast had a crappy show on comedy central for a season or two called viva variety (remember Jonny BlueJeans?) Now one of the guys from the state does those snickers side effects of hunger commercials.

And yes, UCB sucks ass but they weren't the cast of the state, I thought that show had remnants of kids in the hall. Why is it that kids in the hall was so damn funny, but UCB sucked so hard?!?

Gwen!! I can't believe you thought Viva Variety SUCKED!!! That show was friggin' hilarious. Not to mention, Kerri's band, Cake Like, got to play live on TV.... And there WAS 1 The State show on CBS! I saw it! It was a joke, like The State's 64 th anniversary special. Something like that. It was funny, and then there as NOTHING!

Last year's movie, Wet Hot American Summer, was written & directed by two of guys from The State. They also appear in it with other State cast members.

Kerri, the only female on the show, still plays bass and sings for the band Cakelike.
