thats why you wait till they are done with all that version bs and get the final dvd version, untill the anniversery one. because you have to wait 10 years to get that one. I'm awaiting LOTR Directors cut in November. 4 and 1/2 hours of hobbits, more violent then the theatre release

But then again, a fantastic movie like "Better Off Dead" just got released without any extras at all. I was surprised that it wasn't out on DVD yet, but there you go. Can the Criterion Version of "One Crazy Summer" be expected before long with the long awaited deleted Bobcat Goldthwait nude scene?

FATTY- Where it's at
That happened with Men In Black. They released a Directors edition and Collectors edition on the same day. About 4 months ago I bought the Collector's edition at walmart for $10 and a month later the "Ultimate" edition 2 disk set came out. It had what I had plus stuff on MIB 2 that really wasn't that impressive.
Then there was MEMENTO, which had a good buzz when it was in the theater but did average business. Then when it's released on DVD it does really well so 6 months later they release another edition with some really cool features.
I think they are really hurting themselves in the long run because I'm not going to but really cool movies anymore.
Except E.T. when it comes out...
And the Back to the Future trilogy that's supposed to come out before christmas...
And Simpson's Season 2 that I already Pre-ordered...
And Asian Cheerleader Cock Suckers 17...

That's why I haven't bought the Phantom Menace DVD yet. Because that greedy bastard Lucas is eventually gonna release them all in a set with even more extras!!!!
Don't fuck with a Jedi Master, son.
I agree SC, and that's why I haven't bought it either. So I'll be waiting about 4 years to get them. But I figure it will have a bonus disk that will have the entire time line and cool interviews from the original movies. And hidden footage of "The Star Wars Christmas Special".

Waiting for a "final" special edition is not an option. If you reeeally dig a flick and you want to have everything pertaining to that movie...then you'll have to pony up for every version of the same title.
One movie (I think it's EVIL DEAD, but I'm not sure) has literally been released ten times!! TEN FUCKING TIMES!!!!! And MIB had been released four times.
I can't wait until computers can handle movie files that look sharp and smooth and that don't take forever to download. Then I can finally use all my copies of the Usual Suspects as coasters!

It is a bunch of B.S. I'm waiting for Tarantino, Scorsese, and Burton to do the super editions before I buy any of their films on DVD. Renting first is the best way to go. I recently rented the first Superman film, and the Commentary by Richard Donner and David Newman?(I think?) was really interesting.
