My favorite one-hit wonder song of all time is Harvey Danger: "Flagpole Sitting" (paranoia, paranoia, everbody's coming to get me). That song ROCKED the summer of 99 (I think)

I love the song, "No One Is To Blame", by the great Howard Jones. You might not recognize the title, but you would definitely know the song if you heard it on the radio.

Rock on Earth2Ron!!

"Sure, radio had a simple dignity. But people wanted to see the grieving families. And, as usual, technology refused to be dignity's bitch."

"Life is a highway" by that Jeff guy from Canada...God I stink with the names and I am a few clicks away from UBL to look up too...ohhh well

"Get what you give" by the new radicals is another one that was played to shit, but you never heard a peep from the band

"Tommorow" from Silverchair. Anybody remember how many radio stations declared them the 'young Nirvana'. Well I can think of one NY rock station that did (rhymes with gay). I personally liked silverchair and bought there next two albums. They had a lot of talent and a lot of tracks off that first CD that rocked...

"Bittersweet symphony" from the Verve. Now they werent necessarily a one hit wonder, had a lot of good potential. Just think they were overkilled by the media...

"I got a girl" from Tripping daisy
"Mars" from Hum...two songs from bands that need no explanation...

"Albatross" from Corrosion of Conformity, band rocked...just never got full exposure

Gonna burst some bubbles here.

"No One Is To Blame", by the great Howard
Jones.

He wasn't a one hit wonder. How can you forget
"Things Can Only Get Better," "What is Love?" and
"New Song"?

"I might like you better if we slept together"
ROMEO VOID

But they also had "A Girl in Trouble is a Temporary
Thing."

"Rock Me Amadeus" FALCO

But he also did the original "Der Kommissar" in German.
I know that version wasn't heard in the US as much as
After the Fire's version, but it did get some airplay over
here.

"Life is a highway" by that Jeff guy from
Canada...God I stink with the names

Yes you do, sorry. That was Tom Cochrane. And I'm
not sure if that counts as a one hit wonder or not,
because with the band Red Rider he had a hit with
"Lunatic Fringe" in 1981.

~ Eiffle 65- Blue

Actually, "Move Your Body" from the same album got
some airplay.

Wang Chung - Everybody Have Fun Tonight

What about their first hit (and much better song)
"Dance Hall Days"?

A-Ha - Take on Me (Although they did do the
theme to "The Living Daylights")

And the incredible "The Sun Always Shines on TV."

Naked Eyes - Always Something There To
Remind Me

And shortly after that, "Promises, Promises."

I just realized that I'm the contrary-assed loser
geek who reads everyone's list and goes, HEY!! THEY
WEREN'T A ONE-HIT WONDER!! :P

Obviously not, sweet201!

The best one hit wonder of all time is "Too Shy" by
Kajagoogoo. But if I am to follow my own rules like I
did with Tom Cochrane and Red Rider above, I'm even
wrong about that, because Limahl had a hit with the
theme song for "Everlasting Story."

Don't be so hard on yourself Ms. Snipe. There really isn't too many true 1 Hit Wonders out there. Most have follow up "hits'.Even The Records in which I recieved "props"(thanks ag) for had a follow up hit "Teenarama".I guess the definition should be...you're a one hit wonder if your follow up tunes are on a decending slide on the charts compared to your first one or something like that....

Probably the only "true" One Hit Wonders in existence would be The Wonders(Doing that Thing You Do).But then again ,that was by design.
