I was listenting to the Radio Chick (you know, the lead in to Ron and Fez) and they were talking about couples being together for a long time and not getting married.

Now my question is why?

Why do you HAVE to get married in order to be together? Are you going to hell if you end up having a couple kids and living together without being married?

In my opinon, the fun that you once had when you were dating either slows down, isn't the way it used to be, or just dies.

Is marriage the way to go, or can you be "united" until death do us part.

VEGETA - You ask several separate questions and I'll try to break down my answer that way.

Often people look only at the surface, what they see, or what is being verbalized, without looking to the underlying issues beneath.

The women on the Chick today were upset that they were with their boyfriends for a long time and they had never proposed. On the surface it certainly seems that they were upset about not being married. I think, however that the deeper issue, was the hurt, rejection and uncertainty they felt for not having been asked. In addition of course, the women are all wondering whether the relationship will last if their boyfriends are unwilling to commit to them.

These women have a sense of emotional vulnerability resulting from laying their desires for marriage on the line and being summarily dismissed by their boyfriends.

These couples need to sit down and talk about what is really on their minds. If the guys have no intention of getting married for the immmediate future their girlfriends deserve to know. And the guys need to know how their girlfriends view their failure to ask them to get married.

Of course you don't have to get married to be together, or to be happy, PROVIDED that this is what both parties want. If neither couple cares about marriage, they can spend their whole lives together have 10 kids and no problem (well some legal problems at death, with estate stuff)

Will an unmarried couple go to HELL? Come on! There aint no such place other than Detroit.

Based on my 16 years of experience as a married guy, marriage makes everything better from sex, to communication to trust to fun to openess to games to - well, everything.

I heartily recomend it.
