View Full Version : Whats the best way to figure out what you're alergic to?
HK, I walked outside this morning and my eyes just went haywire. I suffer from Hayfever, in the spring, but usually not not in the summer. I cant Figure out if my bad eye is acting up again or its the weather. Any Suggestions?

rub a bunch of stuff on your face and see what hurts the most.
I think you just go get an allergy test and they can tell exactly what you react to! LuLu had to get it done, she might know better. :) Good luck. Allergies can suck.

just ingest whatever you think you might be allergic to.

Like AGGIE said, go to an allergist for a skin test. You'll learn exactly what substances you're allergic too.
If it's pollen, most news reports give a pollen count so you have an idea of how bad your symptoms will be.

Nothing seems to penetrate her.
She's scared as hell.

Wide awake
and keeping distance from my soul.
I am scared like you.

hk, i actually have a similar question. i suspect that i have developed a shrimp allergy... one time i was eating them and my lip totally swelled up... so i've stopped eating them since, and have been ok. but, i was eating a lot of other things taht day, too, so who knows if it was the shrimp... is there a similar test for foods?

I get my allergies in the fall. Every year, the last 2 weeks in August until frost I get ragweed allergies - really horrible!

you should get a skin graft (i think that's what its called) they shoot your shoulder with a series of injections and see what swells up. i had it done when i was a kid

Ariennete, it's extremely likely that you have a shrimp allergy. Shrimp and other shellfish contain iodine which is what a lot of people are allergic to. Plus, allergies like that come and go. They can test for all kinds of allergies, food or otherwise.

I'm not a doctor or anything... I've just been allergic to a ton of crap since I was a kid.

They can test for all allergens. It's done via a skin test (injection of the suspected allergen just under the surface of the skin. If the site swells, it shows you're allergic.)
Fortunately you needn't undergo a skin graft, which is extremely painful procedure typically used for burn victims.
