I'm sure this is uneccessry, but I just finished watching Fellowship of the Ring and I'll be Goddamned if it's not one of the best movies I've ever seen. On top of that, the whole DVD package is excellent. The extra features are fantastic, especially the Two Towers preview. I understand some people may be hesitant to buy this and are planning on getting the 4-disc 'Special Edition' in November, there's actually a preview for it on this disc which I thought was a ballsy move, but it's worth the 25 bucks. Even if you don't buy it, at least rent it to check it out. I love Star Wars, but Peter Jackson has a whole different vibe about him than Lucas does these days. In the features section, you can feel the absolute love that PJ has for this material. If you're fan of the movies or books, it's definitely worth checking out.

Yes, LOTR is that damn good.

It should have won best picture over "A Beautiful Mind", which IMO was just an okay film, outside of Crowe's fantastic performance (HE should have won the Oscar too, but he's just too much of a prick).

I would recommend picking up this DVD, because it has something like 2 hours of documentary footage on the film. The 4 disc set that comes out in November (which I'll also get) doesn't have the special features as this set (no documentaries or featurettes, or previews), but it will have at least a half hour of extra footage and commentaries and such.

Dude, where'd you get your copy of LOTR for 25 bucks? I was in Best Buy yesterday (buying "Big Trouble in Little China", one of the best movies ever made! ;) ), and they had LOTR on sale - 15.99. I had to pick it up.

Agreements and disagreements on this arguments. Agree that Crowe should have won that Oscar, but feel that Beautiful mind, justly won the oscar.

Back to the topic at hand, LOTR totally kicks ass, watching it right now...CAN NOT wait for the Two Towers to come out...Is one of three movies I have to see within next year and a half (Matrix sequels the other two)

The LOTR released this week is about 3 hours. The November one will be about 4. In addition, none of the extras found in this week's dvd will be in the November DVD release.
