This huge trade was Dikembe Mutombo for "The Next Larry Bird" Keith Van Horn and "T-Squared" Todd MacCulloch.
As a New Jersey Net fan, I think it gives the team a legitimate Number One center along with alot of needed rebounds and blocks. My only worry is the chemistry. It was a youth movement in Jersey and they got a tad older. Reggie Jefferson (probable starting SF) better perform up to his potential now that Van Horn is gone or the Nets won't be as dominant as they have been last season.
I wish T-Mac and Van Horn the best in Philly because they are not going to get the ball now that they are on AI's squad! I'd rather see Van Horn in Utah but you can never get everything you want.
So what do you guys and gals think of this deal: good, bad, indifferent?

Van horn didn't do so bad last year, and the team as whole was pretty good I wouldn't have change anything unless it helped imporve the team. Who know only profromance always prove if a trade is right or wrong

I like it. Block shots, pull down boards - then dump it off to Kidd.
I also think Mutombo is one of the few players who can play Shaq well.

They really needed a center. He will probably make a bigger difference in games than Van Horn did, so I say it was a good deal.

yea mutombo took the sixers to the finals (cause iverson couldnt do it alone)
but he can take the nets back there too. plus kidd can get the ball to a big man inside who can dunk.

He's 36 and not a scorer. He'll be an asset but they need more.

The Nets would pull away from teams and then let them right back in because they couldn't snag rebounds. This is a definite upgrade at center for the Nets. I like it.

This huge trade was Dikembe Mutombo for "The Next Larry Bird" Keith Van Horn and "T-Squared" Todd MacCulloch.
First off, KVH got a raw deal with Nets fans. He was never good enough to be the next Bird...his expectations were crazy, and he just isn't that good a player. He's a good role player, and a starter..nothing more. But Nets fan would have you believe that he was meant to be the next Bird. Which is ridiculous.
Reggie Jefferson (probable starting SF) better perform up to his potential now that Van Horn is gone or the Nets won't be as dominant as they have been last season.
"Richard" Jefferson is ok, but he has no "potential". He's not as good as Van Horn, even though he (KVH) averaged a career low 15 points and change. Jeffereson is a role player, and I don't see him as a starter...but if he works out, i'll be good for em
I see them missing Todd MacCulloch though..he was big for them.
I think the move is good for them, and in a horrible Eastern Conference, they'll have a chance to repeat again as the champs...but it all comes down to this. Can they win a championship with that team? No. Cause they're not good enough to beat the Lakers.
Plus Kidd is going to bolt after this year, cause he's a free agent, and probably will go back out west to play...so the Nets are playing for this year and getting back to the finals. If they get there and when they lose, Kidd will bolt and then you're stuck with Mutumbo's massive contract. I don't like the move.

Can they win a championship with that team? No. Cause they're not good enough to beat the Lakers. NO TEAM CAN BEAT LA! Period, end of story.
The Shaq and Kobe Dynasty will dominate as long as they are together. Every team is playing for second!
