Now we ALL have made a little joke at Billy's expence at one time or another, and it's usually in good fun. He understands his role on the show better than any of us.

Now I do not know the man personally, but these jerkoffs that call up, and just get as personal and mean as possible with Billy are simply Faggots. That's all I can really call them.

Talking all sorts of shit that they WOULD NEVER say to the man in person. Just the opposite! They'd be taking his zipper down in person, if they thought they had a SLIGHT chance of getting on the show.

My opinion: cut the man A LITTLE SLACK. DON'T BRING HIS DAUGHTER INTO THE SHOW. SHE DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT.

Billy IS FUNNY on the show, no matter what you think of his stand up act.

And as for the Red Bank show, those scumbags didn't even give him the chance. Funny or not, he deserved a chance.

I agree that constantly picking up someone's slack never lets them learn, but on the flipside of that same coin, EVERYONE needs a friend.

I guess we'll never know how much of this is "show" and how much is"life", but assuming it's all "life", I think he needs the people at Ron and Fez to help him out.

Moe, I agree with you on this one.

There is amajor difference between teasing Billy, trying to get him to realize this situation could be used in a positive manner, making light of the situation, and just kicking the guy when he's down.

Ronnie and Fez, obviously, try to take care of Billy. They don't tear him to pieces in a malicious manner.

I think there is a line, and the line is crossed by may "fans" lately.

Part of Billy's humor is being the fall guy for R&F gags. When R&F do it, it's for the radio, not because they don't like Billy. Some callers/listeners just don't get it. I've met Billy and he seemed nice enough (didn't talk to him for very long), but he is a person. He has a family, he has problems, but don't we all. Instead of picking on his life, try focusing on your own.

Billy is really one sweetheart of a guy, and one of the most genuine people I've ever met.

The people who went to the stand-up show for the sole purpose of ridiculing and belittling him are the real sad cases in all of this. How pathetic must someone's life be that the only way they can feel good about themselves is to tear down someone who's doing something they themselves would never have the balls to do?

Time and again Mr. Staples has demonstrated his dedication and resiliency, and I have no doubt he'll be back in the ring to take another swing real soon.

I'm glad to see some support for Billy here, and in a lot of other topics started both before and after mine.

And I just wanted to clarify that I also despise the people who BLAME Ron and Fez for this! Joking or not, they warned him up and down that this show was suicide. They tried to help him, and ALWAYS take him back, healthy or not.

So I also despise asswipes who think Ron and Fez set him up.

Plus, he's his own man! You can't TELL a man what to do, so don't act like Ron and Fez can just point hi in a direction, and he follows orders. He needs to make his own discisions and mistakes.

I didn't hear the actual show where the line was crossed, but there is constant bashing of Staples on a daily basis on the show. That's all in good fun, but the problem is that taking shots at Billy is so commonplace that some listeners don't realize there is a line. If they do realize there is a line, there are some who would try to enrage Billy just to get a few moments of personal "glory" on the air.

2 things.

#1. I DO NOT blame Ron and Fez for ANYTHING! This is part of the "friendly" on air comedy releif that Billy is aware of.

#2. I DON'T want to make it seem that we should NEVER bust Billy's balls! There are MANY of you that were HYSTERICAL the other night with the returning Billy Staples Comedy Pyramid. Billy knows he's there to be picked on a little. He's a man, and he can take it.

MY problem is 2 fold as well:

#1. Jerkoffs that call up and just say shit like "your Hot Dog vending Mother's a whore," or " We don't like your daughter," or "Your dad's dead" to just get a cheap laugh, and actually hurt Billy. We all like Billy, and I'm not telling ANYONE what to do, but I feel there is a line.

#2. That fateful night in Red Bank, those people NEVER gave him the chance to fail. At least listen to a few jokes. If he's REALLY taht bad, then tell him. But no, they cut him down before he had a chance.
