Is there anyshow you thought was cool but got shot down and you'd like to see them try again?
Mine would have to be Manimal. The one were the guy turned into like a panther and a couple of other animals Maybe it was just cause I was little, but I loved that show. But then again I loved that bigfoot show (Not Harry and the Hendersons, the old one) so what the hell do I know.
And while I'm talking about the bigfoot show; did anybody ever notice that when ever the kid and the bigfoot had to get somewhere, the kid would run one way, the bigfoot would run the other, and they would end up there at the same time? Obviously the kid had to know a short cut or something. He certainly can't run as fast as a bigfoot. You would think the kid would just have the bigfoot pick him up and carry him. That always bothered me.

A Manimal Reference...that's hysterical. You're a good guy, Mr. Sukimama.

I'd like to see Clerks: The Animated Series, Upright Citizens' Brigade, and the The Critic back on the air.

And I'd like to see whoever was responsbile for "The White Shadow" come on the air and apologize for that abortion.

That show was great! They just needed better theme music, but ya gotta love that they had a multicultural cast. Also, I wish Ghostwriter would make more of a physical appearance than just those cheesey graphics and letters! Bring back Reading Rainbow too, while your at it! Now that's a good theme song! :)

Ghostwriter did get a second shot, on CBS. new cast, new location i think (although i loved the fact that the original was set in Brooklyn).
It sucked ass by the way, plus old fans like you sundoggy and Girl germs never got a chance to even know when or where it was on so it got cancelled again.
Anyway my choice for a show that should come back is Freaks and Geeks.

I'd also like to see the cartoon Turbo Teen done live action. That show rocked.

Friday the 13th the series was cool too, until they turned the lead into a little kid. That was retarded.

Remmington Steele was another kick ass show.

Also, how about giving The outlaws another chance. It was about a bunch of cowboys from the wild west that got sent to the future.

As long as they leave The Young Riders dead and buried.

i had high hopes for this one. it seemed like it shouldve been a movie as opposed to a tv show. it didn't go anywhere after that awesome ending to the pilot. and joey icecream fucking blew. it wouldve been much better on FX and being on NBC watching your language really took away from what it could have been.

Remote Control with Colin Quinn at the helm.

I actually met one of the bit players and writers for Remote Control, John Ten Eyck, who worked as a writer at MTV. (This is like 1998 when MTV still played music so things can be brutally different now - IMDB doesn't have a credit for him since 2000 so maybe he got out of the business.)

I asked him why MTV doesn't replay Remote Control or at least try the format again. He said one of the reasons they can't do repeats is because all the sing along with Colin stuff and all the music Steve played wasn't licensed properly so MTV was losing money if they replayed them.

Also, to be honest, after doing HBO specials and stuff, wouldn't doing an MTV game show be a step down for him?

That show was shot on the same locations as Automan to save money.

I remember a line from Chris Elliot's "Get a Life" where a character criticizes him for screaming like a girl to which Chris replies, "If you think this is bad, you should have seen me when they cancelled 'Manimal.'"

On that note, "Get a Life" or "Parker Lewis Can't Lose."

I really wish V worked out last year. Such a shameful display. If I had to wish, I'd have to go with the Kids n the Hall. Too many cheap knock off these days and before you say it, yes they were a Lorne Michaels SNL spinoff sketch show, but the HBO backdrop gave it the freedom it needed.

I'd love to see Barney Miller redone for today. Maybe reference the old show, have the captain be Barney's kid or something. It was so smart and funny and dark working within the constraints of '70s TV: let it loose content wise, let it stray more outside the formula than it was allowed to, and I think you'd have a really awesome show.

Be sure to keep the original theme though.

Only if its the theme song from the first season, which is actually a step slower & funkier than the following seasons.

Would Night Court work as a remake?

If you've got good writing and decent actors, I think a sitcom can always be remade because the setting (the "situation" if you will) kind of doesn't matter. It can be about an ordinary family, a bar, a group of friends, whatever.

Dramas are tougher because if you have an ordinary situation, something extraordinary better fucking happen fast or you're going to lose viewers.

So yeah, I think a remake of Night Court would work fine.

Just make sure your Assistant DA has sung on "Paradise by the Dashboard Light", "We Gotta Get Out Of Here", and "Hitsville UK", and that the Clash song "Should I Stay or Should I Go" was written about her and you're golden.

Golden I tell you.

I would like a new version of ”Parker Lewis” especially more when teen programming is building value with the basic cable channels.

I think a remake of ”Small Wonder” done by Dan Harmon would kick ass. The concept behind Small Wonder is great, the show was terrible.

I wouldn't mind seeing another attempt at it, but there's no way any current league would allow them to use any actual team names or footage, so all you'd get would be the off the field and locker room stuff.

Unless they want to wheel out the old LA Express USFL grainy footage the way the original show did. That might actually be kinda funny.

Well, it would probably suffer the same fate as "Playmakers" on ESPN -- no network that has football would air it. The NFL would bitch about "negative portrayals" as its players concuss themselves into Alzheimers and slap their wives/girlfriends around.

First of all, spoiler alert.

Second of all, this was only going to be a season finale, but NBC suddenly canceled the show.

Back story: Al, throughout the series, was a bitter divorced alcoholic. While Al was in Vietnam, he taken as a prisoner of war. Rather than wait, Al's wife, assuming he was dead, moves on and remarries.

Sam leaps into a period of time where he is able to interact with Al's ex-wife while Sam was away in Vietnam. Sam tells her that she should wait for Al while he is off fighting in the war and became a pow. This incident destroys Sam's reality. Sam leaps into himself in a bar. The bartender has a long conversation about this and it is revealed that the bartender may be god. Sam leaps and some text explains that Sam kept leaping and leaping beyond what would've been his natural lifetime and he never leapt home.

The season finale was going to set up that Sam was going to have to reruin Al's life or interact with Al to guide his involvement in the Quantum Leap program or he was going to be trapped in limbo forever.

Apparently, NBC was going to make some movie to continue the series, but the death of Dennis Wolfberg who played Gushy (I think) soured them on a remake.
