View Full Version : Stevens and Coleman suspended.

According to the Rock and Roll Dentist, Infinity has suspended Ken Stevens and Jeremy Coleman, saying it was management's fault that Sex for Sam got out of control.

Dentist goes on to say this is a sacrifice to appease the catholics on the warparth.

Dentist makes another good point: The media is skewing this so pro-catholic, and Inifinity is doing NOTHING to defend themselves, making O&A and WNEW look horrible in the process.

It's a horrible PR hatchet job by the Infinity suits, and they are basically letting WNEW hang out to dry.

Speculate what you want. A lot of you aren't in the media. This is a LOT worse than the mayor stunt, trust me.

If this is true, then this shows how a bad Infinity is managed.

I think what they did was reprehsible, and I think they should ALL be suspended for lacking the moral barometer to know that this was a terrible idea. But suspended does not mean fired, and they shouldn't be, and I don't really think they'll be fired(though that's miles from a certainty). I owe Opie and Anthony a debt in one regard, in that waiting for them to hit the air, and having them keep 102.7 on my preset got me into Ron and Fez back in the middays. Was this worse than the Mayor Menino stunt? As an act, I think it was more disrespectful, but I don't think they will pay for this stunt with their jobs, so I'd call it a push on the overall worse scale.

Letterman made a joke about it last night. Something along the lines of the Priest in the church was so startled he fell off an alter boy.

Saying the mayor died caused a pretty big stur up here on the news, how big a deal is this in NYC?

Last nights Ron and fez shows was really weird from a listening point of view. WNEW is in major turmoil and Ron and Fez were doing the show like it was just another show. I know they couldn't talk about anything but it was just strange and then to top it all off, during commercials I switch to WABC and theyre talking about the WNEW situation.

There has to be ban on commenting on this from within the company. The "sex-duo" are due in court today, after their appearance you might hear more on it.

Moderate. Like second story on the news broadcasts. We never heard about the Menino thing down here, but the Catholic Church is a larger entity than the state government, and O&A are syndicated now.

I don't understand why anyone watches Leno. That's gold.

If it had been any other religious building, a mosque, a temple, etc., they would not have even missed a show.

someone posed the question is this as bad as the mayor stunt. who defines how bad the mayor stunt was? because i for one don't think that was "bad"

in addition who defines OA's morals?

the supreme court can't even decide what obscene is defined as. because to every obscene means something else, the same thing goes with this stunt.

just as someone pointed out, if this wasn't a church it wouldn't be thought twice about.

and if anyone knows ron and fez they never take their show up to talk about other people's show. they ALWAYS go on with their show, and let the politics of wnew play out on their own.

If this were to take place in a Mosque or Temple, I believe they may have encountered similar problems. It's just a matter of how many of the local congregation belonging to that particular place got upset.

They reported the Mayor of Boston died in a car crash in Florida were he was vacationing. It lead to people calling his family members and telling them the radio is reporting Tom is dead.

That's pretty bad.

Let's say that the two bosses take the fall, the station pays a fine and O&A come back on the air under new management.
Their show would never be the same. When is it going to be alright to talk about this on the air? What if they attempted anything sexual and are told"oh no, you remember the trouble that caused last time!" They will be compromised, constantly under management's watch, and I doubt that they would want to continue that way. I fear they might become sacrificial lambs.

So O&A are going to walk into the studio, get on the air and say "Boy, wasn't that a crazy thing, huh? O.K., let's get a couple down here to celebrate with us by having balloon knot sex in the lobby!"

It's gonna be that easy?

I hope they don't end up getting punished with no airtime or anything like that bc other ppl messed up again. :P <P>

Nature boy chill out.

NO ONE FORCED THE COUPLE TO ENTER THE CHURCH..

It was their choice right or wrong. To say that wNEW is responsible is a little maybe too much. Hey yes they did the contest. It was the couples choice. I personally don't like what they did and thats who I blame if any.

Although unconfirmed, one source at the NYPD claimed the couple plans to sue Opie and Anthony and WNEW-FM for "legitimizing" the promotion, and failing to inform them that sex in public places is against the law.

Are they that stupid?

I hope Opie and Anthony go down to St. Pat's and Butt Bang the Bishop.

I don't care WHAT catholics ANYWHERE think about ANYTHING, and I think Sex for Sam is fine.

When these asswipes can deal with Boys and Girls being molested in the back, then they can complain about problems up front, between to consenting adults who just picked an inapropriate place to fuck.

I do say that kicks ass.

If these people want to get pissed that their House of Worship, a place they consider sacred, was desecrated they have every right to. And to call them hypocrites because of the pedophile scandal isn't neccessarily correct. I don't always agree with the president, in fact most times I don't, but that doesn't mean I don't believe in the ideals of Freedom and Democracy that he is supposed to represent. These people hold the Holy Mother Church very dear to themselves and they're extremely upset over the incident. I can't blame them. They have every right to boycott sponsors and call for OnA's termination.

That being said, do I think legal sanctions against the station and the show are right? Perhaps, for lewdness, I mean they were having sex in public. As far as the station losing it's license and Stevens, Coleman, or OnA their jobs, absolutely not. At least not at the hands of government pressure. If INFINITY feels it's in their best interests to terminate any of them, then that's INFINITY's decision, but I think that would be a mistake.
