Making WNEW listen to the listeners.

Hey I know there is a rally tonight to show our support but has anyone thought of how to really make WNEW listen?

WNEW, Infinity, and Westwood One are a business. Why not finally learn something from the religious nuts that all of a sudden feel a show is offensive.

Yes they write their letter to the stations at first. Do the stations (Radio or TV) listen? Not really.

What makes them listen is where the advertisers start hearing from the groups about not buying products that advertise on the BADDDDDDDDD shows.

That's right do it right do the rally and show our support. But send you letters to the advertisers know that there is a large buying population that will not buy their products because of WNEW. Or will be going to buy their completions products instead.

Losing advertisers is losing revenue to a station. Let Stacker II, Budwieser.

Do it smart is all I am saying......

the problem is that it is a huuuge company; obviously they have no problems dumping people over ratings, so if the ratings tank they'll either swap in a new show, or change the format. They have other revenue sources to rely on. This nut is not reasy to crack. It's like the baseball strike - boycotting the games at least allows you to feel "hey I'm doing the right thing" but someone else will come along and buy a ticket.

I have no answer for what we need to do.

If this is a Ron and Fez board, and they aren't fired, why would you want to hurt the station and force their hand into ditching the format?

If O&A got hit by a car, are Ron and Fez supposed to jump in front of the next one?

There alot of threads on this board today about a wnew rally.

The possibility is that if there is a format change Ron and Fez may not be part of it.

This is not just my imagination but was clearly stated by the Ron last night.. If you heard the show at all last night it was pretty much a goodbye show just in case.

They do not know what is happening and if their future with NEW is going to last.

Mel Karmazin and the rest of Infinity execs have their offices in the CBS building at 51 W. 52nd St. between 5th and 6th...they just expanded the sidewalk. Maybe it would now fit a nice little RF rally. <P>

What if Ron and Fez move to afternoon drive? That would be great!

I'll miss O&A but I'm more concerned about Ron and Fez. If/when anything happens to THEM, I'll be pissed. But I won't go and complain about it on an O&A board.
