This early report I hear about approx 25 people showing up for the O&A/ R&F/WNEW rally is to me, embarressing. We all need to come up with something that accurately portrays the support these 2 shows have.
I suggest for one thing, putting different times/locations in the voting booth to see when and where the most of us will show up.
I dont think theres a better way to spend $225 then on an event like this. Decent prize for maybe a make shift WOW contest???? We know people will show up for some T&A.
We should use this thread to shoot around more suggestions.......And dare I suggest this be mirrored on the O&A board....... we're all on the same team

Anyway next Saturday is my suggestion. We will all sill be upset about O&A going even if R&F are still on and even more pissed if R&F are gone by that time. ONE BIG ASS WOW AFRO Party/ rally is in order peole. Get your shit together and start replying

Yes, get this on the O and A board. I don't know who sends out the ronfez.net emails, but you can't organize a big rally when you email at one am for a rally at three pm the next day when some of us work till five. I wan't to help, but let's get this going big, not a rerun of "let's bring back psycho dad" Married with children effort. To make it work, it'll have to be well organized and ongoing. Many people will fall by the way side. Sorry, but I think people will just take this as an acceptable loss. Want it to work? Big and long.

The rally was a success in my mind. Dont let the media fool you to thinking that it was less.

At one point we had close to 80 people. That is big for something on last minute's notice.

When i get the pics up, you'll see. Everything on TV looks either bigger or smaller depending on where you put the lens.

And there should be a rally of massive poportions. It should be planned several weeks in advance.

My advice for setting up it, its really important for people to behave yourselves. If one bad thing happens the media will be all over it like the St. Louis Rams secondary. People were asking female passerby to "whip them out". That's fine at a road show, but that would show how disrepectful we are. I tried to shut some of them up, but they didnt get the message.

And when talking to the media. Get to the point. From what i heard pogiant 5 minute speeches were turned into 2-3 second soundbites.

Now i know it sucks, but the news people are trying to condense it down to 2-3 minutes for broadcast. Be very careful.

Who ever is planning a large rally should contact administrors from this and every other board. A united message would be powerful.

.....but hopefully O&A will be somewhere else by then.

I'm a veteran of many a protest, and i can honestly say that the media will do anything to make a protest look ineffective and foolish. Why? because the majority of people sitting at home didn't proest, and want to feel good about themselves. making protesters look stupid makes the passive and ignorant look smart

I think at this point the term "protest" is too strong a word. I'm thinking of a really big rally / party. Imagine if you will thousands of fans showing up in one place at one time because of whats happened to WNEW.

It could be a simple as someone on the board knowing someone in a band and hanging a concert in a park or something.....But nobody is giving any feedback on this......

each member made 10 flyers (ours could just say "save O and A") they posted the flyers on telephone poles, on pay phones, on community bulletin boards, etc. It's simple, and reaches alot of people. best of all, it bypasses the media, so that they can't pervert it. Remember, the media is our enemy: they want nothing more than to make O and A and Infinity look bad, because Infinity is owned by Viacom

hippie! I too was in the
"grassroots movement" for
nearly 10 years. We should
definitely chat sometime. I do
think the rally was a success, but
we succeeded in the wrong
ways. While we did manage to
get millions of dollars of free TV
time to talk about our issue,
unfortunately, not everybody can
be expected to be an expert at
popping off what we former
rabble rousers call "sound bites".
these all important phrases are
usually one or two sentences
long and are usually
painstakingly written by us
hippies at 3 am the morning
before a rally so that no matter
how we say them, the person
saying them to the media doesn't
look like a complete idiot and
therefore make our issue look
trite. While I really thought that
a lot of folks had some really
important and great things to say
to the media, unfortunately the
media only cares about making
us impassioned folks look idiotic,
which is exactly what they did on
the day of the rally.

What I think we really need if this
campaign is to continue, is some
organization!!!! we need to
assign folks to be our "media
spokespeople" and train them in
the art of the soundbite, we
need a lawyer to act as out
"police liaison" so I dont get
pushed face first into the
sidewalk face first again by a cop
who I didn't hear ask me to
move...WE NEED FOLKS TO
ORGANIZE!!!!!!!

great Idea in theory, but
unfortunately it might send the
wrong message to folks who
wouldn't get the context of why
O and A are "Wanted".
unfortunately, most folks who
would glance at a wanted poster
slapped on a streetlight would
probably just assume it was

move on...just my thoughts. I
think that a graphic presentation

more positive light might be more
