Ever since i heard O&A were going to get cancelled and wjfk might be losing ron and fez i havent been able to sleep at all. Actually it hasnt been that long only thursday night and tonight but i still need sleep and whenever i try to go to sleep no matter how tired i am my mind keeps racing and i just toss and turn until i get up and get back on the computer upon realizing i wont be able to sleep. With school starting monday this is gonna be a big problem since i have to get up at around 6am and i don't know how to put my mind at ease. would anyone like to come and knock me unconcious cause i think thats the only thing that will work.

RYAN THE GREAT - Change in routine, particularly when accompanied by uncertainty can be very stressful.

Stress can interfere with your ability to sleep. Eventually your stress levels will fall and you'll be able to sleep again. However, you may want to look into finding another activity to replace listening to o and a on the radio - at least until they get picked up by another station.

I do not recomend taking ambien or any other sleeping pill. Your sleeping difficulty will most likely be transient and will resolve on it's own. Sleeping pills can fuck up your entire sleeping schedule (and can actually prevent you from sleeping when you stop taking them).

I do not recomend taking ambien or any other sleeping pill. Your sleeping difficulty will most likely be transient and will resolve on it's own. Sleeping pills can fuck up your entire sleeping schedule (and can actually prevent you from sleeping when you stop taking them).

In general, sleep agents should be taken for no more than 7 to 10 days, and re-evaluation is recommended if they are taken for more than 2 to 3 weeks. The most commonly observed side effects in controlled clinical trials were drowsiness (2%), dizziness (1%), and diarrhea (1%). While taking AMBIEN, do not use alcohol. People who abuse prescription sleep aids may become dependent. When you first start taking AMBIEN, use extreme care while doing anything that requires complete alertness until you know how you will react to this medication.

Basically. It doesn't put you to sleep, but it helps clear your mind and eases you to sleep. I take this medication in cycles. I use it for 7 - 10 day then lay off it for month and 1/2 to 2 months. Then i do the 7- 10 day thing again. and repeat that cycle. It makes it so that you don't get addicted to using it. but as of alte i only use it when nessicary which is once a week if that.

Well Ron and Fez are back on so thats good. And if your still cant sleep then just don't. If you just stay up and do stuff not thinking about not sleeping , you will eventually get tired.

I have this same exact problem, except its not because of O&A being cancelled. I lay there, i count down from 100, i listen to Mozart, but nothing helps me.

But I really posted cuz i have a question regarding sleep problems and really there's no point in starting a new thread for one sleep question. so here goes:

are there are side effects of sleep deprivation?

Over the the past 48 hours ive slept only about 10 hours, with a block of about 30 straight hours without sleep. i feel fine now, but is there anything like nausea or headaches that i can get from staying up constantly?

Sleep deprivation is bad news. There are many negative effects and I'll just list a few.

1. A sleepy person's brain works less effectively than a rested person's. It works harder and accomplishes less.

2. Sleep deprived drivers are repsonsible for many fatalities and accidents. Between 1989 - 1993, about 56,000 crashes per year were attributed to driver fatigue on the Police Accident Report (PAR) (Knipling and Wang, 1994). During the same five-year period, drowsiness/fatigue was cited as a factor in an annual average of 1357 fatal crashes, resulting in 1544 fatalities (3.6 percent of all fatal crashes annually). These statistics for driver sleepiness and accidents are considered conservative, as police tend to list driver fatigue as a cause of an accident only when it is clear that it was the case.

3. Driver drowsiness has also been a big problem in the military. Approximately nine percent of wheeled vehicle driving accidents resulting in injury or death during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm was attributed to driver drowsiness. (United States Army Safety Center, 1994).

4. According to a study conducted at the University of Chicago, chronic sleep loss may cause earlier onset of age-related ailments such as diabetes, hypertension, and memory loss.

5. Prolonged sleep deprivation will cause psychosis.

6. And the ultimate danger, a side effect of of a prolonged sleep deprivation is linked to increased risk of death. According to one study, people who sleep less than four hours per night are three times more likely to die within the next six years . Rats that have been continually deprived of sleep die within two to five weeks, generally due to their severely weakened immune system.

So, get to bed!
