I have many cds that I burn... An example is an
80's cd which of course 80's music but I also have a
depression CD with depressing songs. I listen to it
when I am depressed. Is this healthy????

Hey Cyyyfyy, one thing I learned in my 23 years on this planet is that listening to sad music when you're depressed only makes ya sadder.

Maybe it helps some people, but I've always thought that it doesn't help the sitch at all.

Turn off the sad music, put on something loud, upbeat, even something angry, and get out all your feelings by working out, running, or just punching the wall.

Sitting around listening to depressing music will only make your funk last longer, imo.

I find that this isn't always true. I have depression CDs as well, not burned mixes but whole albums that just do the trick. Sometimes it does push the depression deeper, but other times it provides a calming effect. I guess by listening to the depressing music, you feel like you're not alone, you're not the only one who's down. Yeah, seems silly, but sometimes it works. I guess everyone handles their depression in a different way.

Sunny has the right idea. People who are depressed are ill served by sitting and listening to depressing music. They are much better off, listening to happy or upbeat music and even more by getting out of the house and doing something fun - even if they are not in the mood to do anything, for some, the mere act of going can be restorative.
