Hey guys, i decided that since I buy lots of game, cheaper than all of you, (thanks KB discount....) i might as well help you out and tell you which ones suck and rock.
So this topic is dedicated to the new Medival Strategy Sim, Medieval Total War.
First off, if you think your P2, 300 MHZ 128 Ram will run this, go blow yourself. My P3, 530 MHZ, 586 RAM has to run this on its lowest graphics level. But then again graphics dont make the game.
First off, basically in this one, your have a huge world map of Europe from 1092- the fall of Constanitople which was whenever, i think 1392 (damn public education). You have a king, and queen, and the queen and produce hiers, which she does. Shes a fucking factory, which is good, cause if your king dies, your kingdom dies unless you have heirs. In each provine (i.e. ireland, saxony, denmark.) you build Castles, and unit production buildings and have one of your generals goven it. After a year, youll have your units trained and you can give them to any general you want. So far So cool.
Now, the fighting. If you think this will be like Warcraft or Starcraft, its different. All your men are in divisions, and your basically over viewing the battle, making sure they go where you want. Some of the cool stuff is formations, you can group some archers with calvary and has the archers barrage, then when the enemy is close, the horses charge from behind the archers. The fighting is when your computer takes the beating. Upto 10,000 men can be displayed at once. as well as castles you could be sieging. I dont recommend this game for people with crappy comps.
Overall?; I like this game. I like history and Medieval was one of the best warfare times in history. The game keeps all those little things intact, such as excommunication. If ya get excommunicated, either all the other catholics get their zelots asses on you, or you kill the pope and reinstate your own pope. Cool stuff.
The fighting is fun, and even on the normal level, you need some knowledge of what your doing. Its not like Starcraft and stuff where you just build as many people as possible. In this, its all about strategy, and keeping your troops happy.
Good shit, I give it a 8, but this is only a distraction for me untill NHL 2003.
