I mean public drunkeness...
I was carrying an "open container" in the east village last night and a cop van pulls over in front of me and gives me ticket for it telling me i gotta go 2 court. to pay it., he says "hey your from jersey and it was in a paper bag so call the # on the ticket and they usually drop the charges" he said they usually just make people pour it out but his lietenant was right there. Can any of you cops on the board help me with what to say on the phone? P.S. I noticed that Cops in NY treat people like HUMAN BEINGS unlike their NJ counterparts.

I got a ticket for an open container at Jones Beach and I hadn't even opened my first beer.

1st off, you probably didnt get a ticket for public drunkenness. They either arrest you or take you to a hospital for that. More likely, your summons says "open container" or "public consumption"...anywho..I'm afraid that if u want to fight it, youre gonna have to appear in court. THEN and only then, they may drop the charges if u can articulate that u were unaware of the law here in nyc. As in all court appearances, dress for success. I wish u luck. Oh, and the reason the lieutenant was there was because most cops arent writing these silly summonses anymore without being ordered to do so, due to recent ill fated contract negotiations.
