D&M Back To PM Drive On JFK-FM - 8/30 - You heard it first here on DCRTV. Effective Tuesday, 9/3, the Don And Mike show goes back to PM drive on WJFK-FM. Live. Since late last week, the station's been running D&M reruns during D&M's current midday slot and during the PM drive slot of the recently cancelled Opie And Anthony. It looks like 106.7 will be running "Sports Junkies" reruns in middays until a permanent replacement show can be found. No firm word on what will happen at Baltimore's WJFK-AM, but there's a definite possibility that D&M will be carried in PM drive there, too. Also, we hear that D&M will move to PM drive on WYSP in Philadelphia (where they're now heard in middays) and on a bunch of other stations, including maybe even NYC's WNEW (which bounced them from middays back in June).....



Don and Mike may come back to WNEW. Sit Tight.

As much as I'm tired of D&M, outside of NY, they do actually pick up some pretty decent ratings...if R&f did move to WJFK, or at least was broadcast live on the midday slot, perhaps the package offer of Stern, R&F and D&M could still be made and would appear attractive to other stations. They were gettiing low ratings in ny so they complained about o&a telling their fans to listen to ron & fez and not telling fans about don & mike. Ron and Fez were getting higher ratings with REPLAYS in the 10-2 slot than Don and Mike LIVE.
Just ask someone with Arbitron ratings info.
Don and Mike failed in NY. If they are on WNEW, it's just filler until Infinity decides what to do with the station.
As for the FCC, that's a "red herring". This mess is all about an over-sensitive media giant(Viacom-CBS) fearing ANY bad publicity from the OA incident. The FCC rarely revokes a stations license, it's about "possible" loss of revenue from special interest boycotts and bad press.
Opie amd Anthony are the victims here. This was a media lynching, the story snowballed into a huge story, and the press made sure they never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
So..sit tight and see what happens at WNEW. And let's hope that Ron and Fez land on their feet somewhere in NYC.

And man, their ratings in NY were awful. NEVER higher than a 0.8...it would be almost impossible for the R&F replays to not beat that.

And I've stated many times that I listened to D&M for years and years until about 4-5 years ago when they got lazy and too complacent with their fat paychecks. It would have happened to O&A down the line as well...

the point isn't that d and mike weren't funny: we can forgive people for not being funny, it's that when they realized that they were going down, instead of taking it like professionals, they had to whine about it, blame Opie and anthony (and ron and fez) for their failure(who supported them like they did any other show) and refuse to put any blame on themselves. When you're getting a 0.8, i don't care what you say, the blame falls on you. to blame another show, a show that had nothing bad to say about d and m until they started up with the whining, is immature, unprofessional, and cowardly.

Here is a scenario I'd like to see. D and M on 2-6, a good time from my perspective, as I can only listen to the radio in snippets at that time and I only find D and M funny for short periods of time. (Though they are Infinately better than LIKAS whom I won't listen to at all) .Then R and F on 6 to whenever. I listen alot then, working late in the office when the phones are quiet. However I'll take R and
F whenever I can get them. Let's just hope they can continue on some venue here in NYC.

While that may be true in some cases, it certainly wasn't true in mine. I listened to them off and on for the whole time they were on here, and for what ever reason I did not find them as entertaining as I did Ron and Fez whom I started listening too about the same time. Frankly if they were on again here I would listen some of the time. But I have to say that their attacks on O and A and R and F at the end of their run here in NY seemed unprofessional and left a bad taste in my mouth.

Most of us New Yorkers did give D&M a chance. I remember when they first came to WNEW they played them(alternately between Leykis' first NY run) at the 7-11 slot,but they just were not funny. They seem to have a parochial sense of humor which does not extend to a NY rhythm.Their best radio happened to be when they called in to O&A to complain about being sabotaged. Otherwise, their humor is stale and basically recycled. Perhaps they had their moment while they operated solely in D.C.

Anyway, it seems that WNEW is a sinking ship which is unfortunate since it seemed as though they were building something special. Hopefully, Infinity will respect the effort,professionalism, fan appeal, and hilarity that Ron and Fez have consistently exhibited during their tenure in NY.

Yeahdude. We're in the minority. I'm not a huge fan of Don and Mike, but I don't mind them. Sometimes they actually make me laugh, usually it's Rob Spewack. Honestly, I like his infomercial Super Happy Fun Show on Sundays with those car dealers than the D&M show, but hey we all have our opinions. Anyway, there's a strong hatred toward D&M in NY so just accept it. This is an R&F board anyway, they're the best.

Now while I agree that D&M obviously left WNEW under ugly circumstances with O&A, I still don't see the dig aginst R&F. Don was trying to snipe at O&A, and he said that the only reason that they "like" R&F "kiss their ass." I think this was just Don getting flustered and not knowing how to respond...it's more an insult towards O&A. Don had been calling O&A "dicks" and "not caring about their fans or co-workers", and by what he said about R&F it was more of a slam at O&A, saying they were so shallow they wouldn't get along with another show on the station unless they played ball and "kissed ass". While not true, I just don't buy that Don and Mike don't like R&F. They mention them on the show pretty often, it's never in a negative light, and the only other time I hear any R&F promos other than during R&F themselves is during the D&M show. So while his show may suck, Don is smart enough to realize he's got a winner in R&F...hopefully he'll make the right decision and fight to get them on live middays.

as a person that listens to wjfk from 11am-3am when i can. I've noticed a steady increase in the drops from the ron and fez show. also i think that ron and fez fan forget the fact that fez has been on their show. he went to see buzz. it was also dandm who gave r and f the catch phrase ,HEY, and it caught on. while they aren't the funniest all the time. they have about two great bits a day that make it worth while to watchit. also the sports junkies originally were making fun of randf but lately they have been droping "paul-o your lifes a movie" when ever they have a caller named paul, among other references. i think that atleast the two live shows at jfk are liking r and f. i'm not asking you to like them. just asking not to bash them for stuff they don't do.
