Hey horde king.
whenever it gets around 2-3 o'clock all my energy just disappears. i feel like i just woke up, my head gets all heavy and i can't shake it for the longest time.

now this happens regardless of the amount of sleep i get the night before, and i drink plenty of water during the day. but it happens pretty much everyday and i'm wondering if there is anything i can do.

thank you in advance

Fatty, I don't know if you're a "junk food" kinda guy or not, but the same thing used to happen to me a lot.

I cut out all sugar, and don't get that mid-day "crash" anymore.

Fatty, how much do you live up to "Fatty"? I dropped more than 20 pounds to get down below 210 (I'm about six-foot-two) and since then my energy has skyrocketed...

Since it only seems to occur at about 2 in the afternoon, it most probably is related to your diet. Certain foods (like coffee or a candy bar) can give you a boost of energy when you eat them, but leave you feeling lethargic and run down an hour or two later.

If you start experiencing this feeling at other times during the day, I'd have your doctor check your blood count to rule out anemia.

I've heard that you get more energy from eating an apple than from coffee or candy. Is that true HK?

Re Energy Bars and Apples:

The term "energy bar" is very misleading. The term "energy" has no relevance to performance or making you feel energetic. The good folks at the FDA have allowed the use of the word "energy" bar to ANY food that supplies CALORIES. That's right, a bar of pure sugar can be marketed as an energy bar.

Studies have shown that athletes who eat a thousand calories of either cinimano raisen bagels or power (energy) bars had no difference in performance. The conclusion was that as long as the calories and carbohydrates are the same, the source makes no difference -- and the bagels were a lot cheaper. Furthermore only professional athletes need heavy doses of carbohydrates. The overwhelming majority of people do not and would have just as much benefit from plain water.

Surprisingly, this study was commissioned by Nabisco, that makes it's own power bar, so the findings are doubly impressive. (And you have to hand it to Nabisco for not supressing the results).

There's a terrific article debunking the whole energy bar mythos sold to the public by the manufacturers of these products. Take a look at:
