KELLY DEFOREST - As I'm sure you know, all fetuses start out female (including developing a vagina) before the Y chromosome kicks in. At that point the vagina closes up the clitorus turns into a penis and testicles develop). Oher chemical changes occur as well.

We also go through stages in our fetal development where our body and brain structure resembles first fish, then amphibians, reptiles, lower mammals and finally higher mammals.

Human embryos develop mammary tissue (and nipples) before the changes brought on by the Y chromosome occur. Thus both male and females have nipples.

BTW to my recollection the only male mammal that doesn't have nipples is the stallion. This was first observed by Aristotle. I also confirmed it with a vet.

A truley odd phenomenon is "witch's milk." Occasionally a male fetus is born with enough of it's (his???) mother's estogen in it's bloodstream that is "turns on" the milk producing glands. Technically the baby can be born able to feed itself... NASTY!!!!
