Why You Love America

Hey everyone, I figured that since were nearing the end of the 9/11 anniversary, and we are currently at code orange, we should all try and stay positive. I want everyone to write why the love their City, Country or the People around them, maybe this will take a little tension off us all. =)

I love America, because my thoughts and ideas are protected. I am not forced to believe anything, nor am not allowed to believe what i want.

I Love Washington DC. Its the city that ive been close to for over 8 years now. I like its Metro, and I like its landmarks. Its mueseums are interesting, and the city its self is an great place.

I love Miami, i was born in a Miami hospital, and I grew up for the early years of my life outside miami. I love the blending of culture there, and its influence that still affects my life.

I love New York. Its the greatest city Ive ever been to, its full of lively people, and adventure. Although Ive only been no more than a tourist at New York, i still feel that in some way im connected to it.

Simply Put, I love living in America.

Because we are so free not
to care. I care, my parents
care. but look around,
there are hundreds of
oblivious morons. in
almost every other country
in the world every one from
small children to the elderly
has to work, think and fight
for survival... where would a
shitty place like isreal or
columbia be with
thousands of oblivious
people being taken care of
by their government? a
bigger mess. in those
cases the entire country is
holding on by its toenails.
we dont have that problem.
I mean who even
remembers the
presidential election of
2000? that would be civil
war in most of the world.

we are so lucky, and so
oblivious. we were all free
to try and put 9/11 past us.
most countries would have
conscription and prepare
for full scale invasion. we
are so strong no one, not
even a wack-a-do named
osoma, would consider
traditional military action.
we get to know that
tomorrow there will not be
an iraqi tank on our door
step. we get to know that if
anyone fucks with us on
vacation in Iran, the bombs
will fly. we get to know that
even china, the biggest
country in the would
(population wise) hasn't got
a shot.

i am looking at a computer
right now that i bought for
more than the average
income in most of the
world. i complain because
i only have 4 chanels of
HBO at school. i skip class
because i dont feel like
going sometimes. i get to
worry about what color shirt
to wear. i get to debate the
vulgarity of radio show
hosts, and protest the
termination of their
employment, with no fear of
retribution. i can drive my
cars, and not have to show
identification to visit my
brother in georgia. i get to
sit here and type anything i
want.

thats only the begining. we
live where its at. in 1000
years when we are nuclear
dust the giant bees that
have taken over will dig up
parts of our lives and
realize we are the best
civilization the world has
ever seen... not perfect but
genious. we live
somewhere that the
government can be
changed by the people,
anytime to suit the needs of
the public. we are living in
the only country in the world
with no lynch pin. no
keystone that can bring us
down. nuke the east coast
and welcome to the capitol
of mineapolis, MN.

I felt this all day long while I was at work. There I was, at the same place I was a year ago, with most of the same people I worked with then...my bookstore was full of customers...people shopping, reading, studying, talking, laughing, whatever. The day was quiet, in many senses of the word. But despite that, people were still living their lives as they wanted to, and that's the most beautiful thing about this country. Despite the horror of what happened in NYC, Penn. and here in DC, our country and it's people stand strong and fast and have tried their best to live their lives as free Americans. I saw all ages, both sexes, all races, all religions today, just going about their business...because they could. Because we live in a country that ensures that we can. God bless America indeed...because it's a beautiful thing.

I love america for the simple reason i was raised to love america. Even if i wasn't raised patriot-like, i would love america because of the ideas it has written in its constitution.

Because I've got the freedom to say that I think the president is in no way up to the job, his proposed war with
Iraq in no way serves our national interests and I think even he in his dim brain knows it; that his v.p. is a sinister stooge for the oil industry, his secretary of defense is a warmonger who can't wait to try out all his toys for killing people, his autorney general is a proto-fascist who secretly hates the Constitution, his secretary of the interior is an industry lacky out to destroy the environment, and his wife looks like a poorly made manequin. And that the only thing I like about him is that his daughters like to drink underage and that his neice takes drugs. I can say all that, mean it, and have no fear that the secret police are going to show up at my door, or even that they are monitoring this e-mail. And that is why this is the greatest country on the whole fucking planet!
