I was working at my store, and the receiving guys actually had D&M on in the back for once(We usually just use the shipping comps to get a streaming WNEW feed). I'm actually glad I listened. While I respect and appreciate everything R&F are doing, I just couldn't hear anymore. All the NYC stories sadden and frustrate me to no end, mainly because it makes me feel even more helpless and too far away from what happened. D&M broadcast from the Pentagon today, and spent the majority of the show just interviewing the people that worked there.
I relalize that the NY suffered "more", with nearly 3,000 dead, and more than 400 firefighters and police officers taken, but I was glad to hear the acts of heroism on behalf of the DC and VA citizens on that day. Granted, only around 200 were lost here, but because the plane was on a ground level, the rescue workers and Pentagon personel and security officers had to work around the plane itself, which kept exploding after it hit. People were literally dragging other people down hallways that had walls of fire spilling down them from the explosions that kept going off. If it weren't for their bravery and quick thinking, hundreds more would have easily died that day, and I for one and glad to count them as my fellow Americans and fellow local citizens.
I'm also eternally grateful to the passengers who took down the flight over Penn., since it was undoubtably headed towards DC. They might have saved my parents, my friends, and my co-workers, and for that I will be forever thankful.
