I'm tired of the WNEW speculation!!

I'm soooooo fed up with people believing that WNEW will be no more within the next week, or the other shoe is gonna drop REALLY soon.

It's not, repeat, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Changing a format is a painstaking process of research, not just into music, but into air talents, management, ad sales, imaging... you just don't flip a switch and start playing rock music, like you saw on the pilot episode of WKRP.

For god's sake, the radio station doesn't even have a permanent PD or GM! The general Sales Manager is running the ship, which is great, but sales is NOT the same as programming!

The first sign big changes are coming is when a PERMANENT PD and/or GM is assigned to WNEW. THEN you can start to worry that changes are coming.

When WNEW flipped from Album Rock to Extreme Talk in 1999, it was at LEAST six months of speculation before all the music was dropped.

It's only been a month since O&A were fired.

You also remember that they had a PD and GM in that, one of which you didn't see. But still they had the order handed down in Airheads.

WNEW is owned by infinite, now if WNEW has GARY BLUM, sales manager "running" the station and theres no real management, that means another management team in infinite is running the station. Ken Stevens was an INFINITE V.P EXEC, that means another team is running wnew and GARY BLUM is there as on-site coordinator. P.D's do not have complete controly of radio stations. There are no COUNTRY stations in NEW YORK, infinite will most likely make WNEW country and move what shows they have left to another infinite station in NY or somewhere else. I hope not but it looks that way.

The constant speculation is GEE! Just wait and see.

Would you feel better if you KNEW the day? I wouldn't. I'm just enjoying Ron and Fez for as long as they are on, and I personally think they'll be around for awhile. They HAVE us, their fan base. And they RULE THE SCHOOL!
