Death Metal Fuzzy,

The only difference that I know of is that Club Soda contains Sodium, while Seltzer doesn't.

Either way, they are both good for removing carpet stains - which is handy since it's the seltzer or Club Soda in your mixed drink that made you trip and spill something in the first place!

Tonic Water is in a whole league of it's own.

It contains Quinine ( that sort of bitter, lime taste )
and has calories, sodium, and even sugar.

Actually, Mr. skidmark, this brings a discussion from The Court Tavern full circle. Tonic water contains quinine. Not sure if it helps malaria or not. Or if you were paying attention.

My grandmother used to mix a "champagne" that's really apple juice mixed with seltzer. As far as I know, club soda was never considered.

According to the food network, club soda is "flavorless water that has been highly charged with carbon dioxide, which gives it effervescence. It also contains a SMALL [emphasis mine] amount of sodium bicarbonate."

Seltzer is a flavorless, naturally carbonated water that takes its name from the town of Nieder Selters in Germany. "Human-made seltzer was introduced in the latter half of the 18th century when carbon dioxide was injected into water. The original seltzer was the forerunner to soda pops, which came into being in the 1840s when flavors were added to seltzer water."

Without Seltzer we'd have no coke or pepsi and Krusty the Klown would lose half his act.

I've noticed that many people over the age of 65 love seltzer. Whenever my Grandparents come down from NJ they always bring bottles and bottles of seltzer , my mom usually ends up throwing it all away.
