HordeKing...I was wondering if it is ok physically to go to the gym after teaching all day in school then going to classes for myself at college if it was recommended to go to gym afterwards. I feel invigorated but am wondering does working out have a cancelling effect cause my body may be a lil tired?? I was wondering your opinion on this matter...

I have to workout after a long shift...it puts me to sleep. If I just come home or go out and then try to go to sleep without my usual 45-minute workout, it takes me hours to fall asleep.

why work out when you can just get stapled?

whatever suits your schedule is best. Its pretty unreasonable for a teacher to get a workout in before class when they already have to be there so early

Working out is beneficial any time of day, even if you are tired from a long day. It actually helps me sleep and takes off some stress. Cardio is MOST beneficial first thing in the morning, because it raises your metabolism and helps burn fat the rest of the day. I have read articles by professional body builders who swear by lifting at night. They feel they immediate sleep helps muscle repair and therefor builds.

DOOGIE - It's actually better than OK, it's beneficial. After a hard day dealing with the little darlings you're stressed out and tired. Working out will help alieviate both stress and exhaustion. I know it sounds paradoxical but working out actually increases your energy level.

Just adding to the good advice already given- - if you are trying to make gains in muscle mass, try to get at least 6-7 hours of sleep. Less sleep = more cortisol = less gains. - watch out for upper respitory infections, they're a sign of overtraining. <P>
