Holy fucking Weisenheimer. I'm so equally terrified and amused at the same time.
Bush's antics are so delightful they deserve a thread here in entertainment. Enjoy.

C-Span is great for catching slip-ups. I remember when some Senator was speaking, Sen. Ted Stevens was sitting behind him, picking his nose during the whole speech.
Then recently, there was a hearing with corporate CEOs. Rep. Maxine Waters started talking about "Salomon Smith Barney Frank" (Barney Frank is a Congressman). Everyone around her was laughing at her but she kept droning on, oblivious.

Because they're desperately clinging on to the off chance that they didn't elect an idiot into the office, that somehow the country would let Gore "get away" with whatever ridiculous hippie agenda they ascribe to him.
And I'm sorry, spanky, if you can't say the word "nuclear", you shouldn't be allowed to deal in nuclear affairs.

Oh, Moe.
Moe, Moe, Moe, Moe, Moe.
Silly, silly Moe.
This thread is no longer run by "liberals", or even "Democrats". We're "INDEPENDENTS". And we're much, much scarier.
Y'see, we don't believe in joining clubs, calling other people names, or blind faith.
We don't need cute little cartoon animals to represent us. We don't pledge our allegiance to CNN, MSNBC, CNBC or Fox News.
We aren't defined by any one majority race, gender, age group or religion. We can't be tracked by polls. We don't have pundits. We could be at your place of work. We could be on your street. We could be someone you know. Someone you trust. Someone you love.
We play both sides of the politcal fence, Democrat and Republican, and THEN look for third, fourth, fifth or even SIXTH options.
Our erratic, and quite frankly, irrational voting got a wrestler elected governor, took down Bush Sr. in '92, and knocked Gore into the ropes in '00. We're easily pissed off, and we're willing to kill again.
Live in fear. Politcal independents. The NEW evil. Boo.

Yea Mojo, I understand. I have views of my own that are VERY outside conservative thinking too, but I find myself thinking more like a Conservative. That also means I'm gonna watch a news channel that I agree with more often. Is that so bad?
And guess what. Be independent all you like, but come almost EVERY election in the nation, the only REAL choices on the ballet are Red and Blue. Independent canidates never get more than like 3 percent of an election. Of course, it's a free country, so you can throw your ballot in the Independent toilet if you like. Write in until the cows come home, and you'll get a wrestler for a Govenor.

But Moe, it's like I said, we can take out the mainliners. Outside of the economy, what really stripped Bush of votes in '92 was disillusioned moderate Republicans voting for Perot. In 2000, it was Democrats in the same boat voting for Nader. If Nader hadn't been there, FLorida wouldn't have even mattered. We may not win, but we sure can make 'em hurt. I'm sick of these Republocrats. In less than a century, we went from having close to a dozen significant parties running in each election to just two. That's not democracy. That's the shittiest lunch buffet ever that makes you vomit in the middle of your staff meeting an hour later.

Well, I dislike arguing opinions because you're NEVER going to change someone's opinion. Facts can be proven or disproven, but not opinions.
And I'm all for choices in politics, it's just a fact that third party canidates hardly ever get elected. Yes, they do make an impact to certian politicians during the elections. I remember the 92 election too. And they sometimes help bring in ideas to elections that the Reps. and Dems. ignore.
That wasn't really my intention when I 1st posted It is this:I just hate this constant Bush Bashing. Clinton was the press's Golden Boy for 8 years becuase a lot of the media is Liberal driven. Now that there's a Conservative in the white House, they knit pick everything he does. I'm SURE we can drag up days worth of stupid things Clinton said. Or maybe not.
I think the big difference between Bush and Clinton is that Clintion was more "SHOW." He had his speech writers on the job 24-7, and Bill never deviated from his speech. I think that Bush may start to Improv on camera, and gets tongue tied.
Oh well. I'd rather live in a country where I have the right to bitch all day about election results than in one where we constantly praise our Dictator.

Moe (& All),

I'm honestly confused & curious about how well-meaning people throw these these labels (liberal & conservative) around as a substitute for real debate. It just sounds like Limbaugh's shtick and he is more an entertainer that a political analyst. What are the important positions that get you one of the labels these days? Social or economic issues?

Clinton signed a welfare reform bill that eliminates the welfare for life syndrome; balanced the budget and instituted the dealth penalty for certain federal crimes. In my day those were all conservative positions. Bush has signed a farm subsidy bill that hands out lots of taxpayer $ to a lot of people and has imposed tariffs of steel and some other imports that impede free trade. those were always thought of as liberal positions. I'm not trying to spin anything here; this is an interesting thread to me and I'm really curious.

Clinton was the press's Golden Boy for 8 years becuase a lot of the media is Liberal driven.
Yea, the way they buried that Monica Lewinski story was brilliant!
That's an absurd statement. This liberal media myth is an excuse for not knowing what's going on in the world and depending on conservative idiology for your information. Liberal ideologues do the same thing when they bitch about the "mainstream media." Neither of the two oppsite accusations about the same media means dick.
I hate Clinton. But I hate him for his foreign policy decisions, not because he was a democrat. He was, however a very intelligent man. Bush, on the other hand, makes these mistakes every time he opens his mouth, and when they pile up like they have, we should be questioning why he makes these errors. I have to question either the man's intelligence, or his commitment to the issues he is addressing. I did the same thing with Clinton. But with Clinton, I knew he was lying because he wasn't just saying stupid shit, he was just saying one thing and doing another. I have come to believe, based on his actions over the last two years, that Bush, and his administration as a whole, have little respect for the truth and for democratic processes. But I think Bush may actually be stupid to boot.

Like Yerdaddy brought up, what "liberal media" was it that gave Clinton such an easy ride? All eight years, they reveled in printing every little discretion he had. Trust me, when you step back away from BOTH parties, they're both on equal grounds for hilarity...I was laughing just as hard during the Clinton years, but doing so with a little more job security. Argue all you want about who actually is responsible for the economic boom during Clinton's time, whoever is President has to inspire confidence to keep the market strong. Clinton apparently could do that. Bush says one thing about it and the market drops a couple hundred points. That ain't cool.

For Clinton it's about quantity, not quality.

And by quantity, he means the SIZE of the girls, not the number of 'em.

it's shit like this that ALMOST makes me long for the days when it was hush-hush about FDR's wheelchair, Kennedy's dalliances, etc.
constant exposure to our leaders' faults leads the rest of the world able to freely attack our "weakness".

How about FDR's dalliances IN his wheelchair? The man supposedly had four mistresses...NICE.

For the best of Bush's antics watch the daily show. Jon Stewart spends half of headlines showing Bush's screwups in his speeches. It's great.
