I'll admit, I rarely listen to WNEW on the weekends. But from what I've heard, Brother Wease has his fans here in NYC... probably a lot more fans than Don and Mike or Leykis

According to the NYRMB, Wease suggested that he do some live shots on WNEW, perhaps even doing a drive time slot instead of canned Leykis.

Wease was denied.

It's so fucking obvious that Infinity is trying to save as much money in changing the format.

These money saving techniques is why R&F are on in Middays and then repeated at night, you have Neer and Harris Allen (already on the WFAN payroll) doing mornings, and Leykis (huge contract with WNEW, still paying, might as well play him with nothing better).

Yeah, this might be speculation, but I seriously want to open a vein in a warm bath when I hear "Enter Sandman" now.

i am a big fan of brother wease. i listen to him on the weekends, and i would listen to him if he was on during the week. Once again wnew is making a mistake in denying a talent already in their stable, in favor of syndicated shows nobody likes.

Weeze is darn good, for a small market audience. He probably couldn't get great numbers in NYC tho. It's a tough town, demanding of something outragious like O&A, or fresh & entertaining like R&F. Regional players like LickAss, Don&Mike, and even Weeze will have a tough time here IMO. <P>

look i loved the opie and anthony show. however you gotta realize opie is a phoney back stabbing ass. if he cared about the station he would not have got the radio chick fired i was not a big fan of her show but she was bringing in real good ratings. i know for a fact she was canned because of opie you say it was opie who got anthony over he may have out anthony in the game but anthony was the mvp of the team.opie canned the chick to bring in brother wease but managment realized he would not work in nyc. as for tom likass he is by far the worst thing going in radio today but viacom has a big money contract with him so they are trying to recoup what they can before the station goes under. opie just had to try and be the ''out of control over the top dj'' with the st pat's fiasco and it blew up in his face and now ron and fez and all the fans of wnew will suffer. opie was the official leader in negotiations for the show and the buck stops with him i never liked the guy and now i know why.as for the O&A show coming back or going anywhere forget it viacom will and is gonna make them sit out the remainder of there contract. as a payback. guaranteed

Opie was the straight man because he wasn't funny. It is the same reason he never went on Ron and Fez. He had nothing to add. Tell me three funny things he said. In radio you ad lib. All the acts you mentioned practiced routines, O&A were FREE FORM radio. Why do you think Norton was there? Because they didn't want Ant to get stale. Do you think Opie could have been a stand-up? Anthony could have(voices, creative,quick) Norton is one. Ron and Fez were. In a comedy club, the best thing Opie could do is serve drinks. <P>

I caught the Weez again this weekend while at work, its a different kind of funny but the guy is funny. To me the old line up was great, with the exception of Don&Mike. You put the Weez in there old spot it would have been great. I don't know how we lost Farell I missed that one. But he was the only one who could get me to listen to sports cuz I can't stand sports. But that dude was a riot. I work some long hours and on the old line up my whole day was covered. I vote for the return of glorious Stalen radio 24 hours a day. <P>
