I cannot sleep sitting up! So this kills my chances of sleeping in cars on road trips, and in planes. There's more, but you get the idea.

Now I know plenty of people how can fall asleep ANYWHERE, and they PISS ME THE FUCK OFF. I also have a problem falling asleep in new places, even if I AM lying down. Like a friend's couch for example.

Anyone else got this?

I can only nod off for like a minute
while sitting. When flying, I'm too
nervous to even relax to go to
sleep. I nearly took off Poot's
hand when we landed at JFK in
the middle of a bad storm back in
April.

I also toss and turn when I'm
sleeping at a person's house that
I never slept at before. But then I
have no problem falling asleep in
a hotel room where I've never
been before. Weird.

I can sleep sitting up in less than a minute. When you have to be on a plane for sixteen hours or a car for eleven, you adapt FAST.

It depends. I can sleep sitting but with my head down like on a desk for example. I have an uncle who my mom actually recorded once of him talking to my dad sittng down then he just goes to sleep right in the middle of the discussion. He can also sleep standing up leaning against walls , it's f'n crazy. I can sleep just about anywhere as long as I'm tired. Hotels , other peoples' houses , Golf courses , YOU NAME IT AND I WILL SLEEP THERE!

I find it much more comfortable to sleep in a comfy lazy boy chair (or zero gravity recliner TM) than in my bed.

I can sleep anywhere I want to, I don't even have to be tired. I think it comes from my time in the military. We would sleep any chance we got, cause we didn't know when the next chance would be.

You would hate me then Moe, cuz I can sleep NO problem in planes, trains, buses, cars, etc. Probably b/c I have had to travel between Texas and New Jersey since I was 4....

I'm with you on sleeping at a friends though...if it's a nap, I would be OK probably, but sleeping a whole night somewhere I'm unfamiliar, I usually can't sleep.

I can and have fallen asleep anywhere.I fell asleep in gym class in High School, I fell asleep standing up in the backroom of Victora's Secret and busted my forehead on a shelf, and I've fallen asleep n the wood floor of my parents' attic with a 30lb freeweight as a pillow.

College taught me three things: how to use a library, how to drink with the best of them, and how to fall asleep anywhere (seated or lying).

depends on whether i can lean my head on the sides of the chair without bending my neck too much...
in work the chairs lean back and you put your elbows on the armrests...but after awhile it seems to cut the circulation off in your arms and they start to go numb...

Usually no. But if I drink enough, I can sleep just about anywhere and in just about anything (piss, vomit, a fat girl)

Nope.. I can only sleep lying down. When I sit I can't relax enough to sleep. I don't have that much trouble with sleeping in a new place, as long as I can lay down..

Sleeping while sitting up is an important skill to pick up if you want to work in the corporate world. When you can sleep with your eyes open (especially necessary during compulsory HR training) you will have achieved zen master status.

Why hasnt anyone taken the oppertunity to exploit this statement???

I actually fell asleep sitting up the other night, i wanted to go to bed but my brothers gf decided to stay up til 130am, i finally said fuck it and fell asleep while watching tv.

i also have a weird habit of curling up into a ball and covering my whole body with the covers, like a shroud

I can eventually fall asleep in planes and in the car. It takes me a while, i've got to position myself right and then i'm out. Cars put me to sleep anyway so its not really a big deal. But i could never fall asleep sitting in chair or something at home, only when sitting up is the best option i can sleep.

i sleep on the subway and/or bus almost every day. it's usually really bad, restless sleep, though. and often, on the bus, i hit my head repeatedly into the window since i lean away from the person next to me. and yesterday i fell asleep on a rather unkempt gentleman on the subway who spent the entire ride eating packets of sugar
