What is everyones favorite mini-series that has premiered on TV (Besides the Soprano's)...It could be something from the past or what not.

I personally am going to go with "From the Earth to the Moon". That is probably one of the best produced series ever (Co-Producer, Tom Hanks)...it also had great co-operation from NASA, the Astronauts who participated in the endeavors, Andrew Chaikin (who wrote the book the screenplay was based on), and the United States Government. It is definetly a must see...

These are both old ones, but I've got 2. North and South (about the civil war)Ive got a thing for hot chicks in bell dresses. lol...and Centennial, about (duh) the 1st 100 years of America. Both were entertaining as well as educational.

"Band of Brothers" was
simply the best mini-series
ever made. It was so real
and involved a good mix
between actual history and
plain ole storytelling. The
best episode had to be the
one where they were in the
forest in the winter and the
medic had such a busy
time. Then he met that
French nurse in town who
gave him chocolate bars.
then the nurse died and the
medic was forced to use
her hankerchief on
someone's wounded leg
even though it meant so
much to him. Just goes to
show the sacrifices those
boys made in war.

The Stand had a crappie
ending... As for picking V I
don;t know how you can pick it
if you do not even know if it
was a mini series or not... It
was a mini series and it was
amazing. I have them all on
tape. It then became a
crappie TV show that could not
keep actors from week to week.
I say the best mini series of
all time is V hands
down

HBO's "The Corner" was a stunner.

North and South and Ken Burns The Civil War. The latter was a 9 episode documentary miniseries shown and produced by PBS. Incredibly fascinating.

I always liked "Shogun," even though it starred Alex Quartermain. Plus, it had that scene where the shogun peed all over Alex Quartermain in order to humiliate him. Yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about.

hmmm....miny series eh... I'd have to agree with V. But I also dug that one that had Julia Stiles in it, I think it was called the 60's or something like that. I also seriously dug the Mists of Avalon.

I liked Ken Burns' "Baseball" series. True, there were several inaccuracies but I found it interesting nonetheless.

HBO has had two of the best:
1. Band of Brothers---simply phenomenal from training till the end of the war it was enjoyable and i looked forward to it every week it was on and cant wait till HBO releases it on DVD
2. The Wire---another HBO great, not sure whether or not this was a mini-series or it will be long term. Hopefully it will be long term but if not very good tale of the struggles of cops and the drug dealers they face. Supposed to represent Baltimore police from the 80's.
3. Lonesome Dove---good western mini-series with plenty of top notch actors with: Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Duvall, Robert Urich and Danny Glover among others.

The Stephen King mini-series are all ok, but reading the books in my opinion gives me a better visual of what things look like, and when on tv it never quite matches up.
