It was a petshop commercial (Petsmart or something), and the cat and dog are trying to find out what their owner got them for Christmas. The dog is standing on a stack of furniture and boxes and the cat is perched on his head peering into a crawlspace.
Punchline comes after the announcer talks about the place-
Cat: I smell catnip!
Dog: Don't inhale!
Cat: Too late, WHOO HOO!
Cracked me up everytime I saw it.

The one with the cowboys herding cats.
So gimme a stage, where this bull here can rage
And though I can fight, I'd much rather recite
That's entertainment!

I was a big fan of the ESPN "knowledge" commercials. It was a big furball with feet. "I must watch more NHL 2-Nite..." "Somebody's knowledge was bigger than mine. I must watch more NFL 2Night..."

My current favorite is the Bud Light Commercial, 'The Stranger', f'ing hilarious.
After that the HBO spot with the apes doing lines fom movies. Not chesey monkey theatre either, the apes are in the wild and they have shit like an old, venerable silverback doing Marlon Brando in The Godfather, just the mouth is dubbed. It's excellent.

I don't think I've seen a commercial that didn't pander to the lowest common denominator of intelligence.

I think it was for a rent a car company where they would have ad guys sitting around a table trying to come up with new promotions. There was one for where a guy in a jet pack flew into some powerlines, and there was another where a bunch of people froze to death. Man they were funny.
