The wait is killing me

I usually avoid 'heavy' threads, and I don't recall ever starting any that I've been emotionally tied too. But I'm starting to lose it.
My sister-in-law went into labor at 4 o'clock this morning. Ordinarily, this would be a time of celebration, and it is, but this was not an easy pregnancy. This is going to be the first born child of my family's next generation, the first offspring of me, my brother, or sister, my parents' first grandchild.
About two months into the pregnancy, we found out the baby only had one lung. . .
Holy shit! Oh my fucking God! I swear, I just finshed writing that sentence and my mother called to say the baby has just been born. I am halfway between crying and fucking dancing right now. Let me make a really long story not so short. After many sleepless nights, ups and downs, a change of doctor and a transfer to the Childrens' Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania, it was determined that there are no other abnormalities, and the one lung has grown to the capacity of two lungs. They said the pregnancy would be normal, and they wouldn't know until the birth if the boy would be okay. As I said before, he was born about a half hour ago, Matthew William Pitt, 6lb 9oz, he was crying, his color was good, everything appears normal and it looks like he's gonna be great. I'm sooo fucking happy right now. I have nothing else to say. Uhhhhh, I love you all. I'M A FUCKING UNCLE! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for the kind words. I just got off the phone with my brother, and everything is fine. There are a couple of minor, minor problems with one of his ears and a couple of his vertebrae. As far as the one lung thing goes, his blood his 100% oxygenated and he's breathing normally. I say it's evolution, in a thousand years there'll be no blondes, no pinky toes, and everyone will have one big lung. More than likely, he'll be home on Saturday
Again, I thank you all for the sentiments, they mean a lot to me. Whether I've met you or not, you're all officially on my list.

I love happy endings! Congrats bro. When my nephew was born, his intestines were on the outside of his skin. Naturally he had to endure a few operations, a few different doctors, and an extended stay in a children's hospital. It was rough going there for awhile. That was 16 years ago. He recently got his drivers license, plays every sport imaginable amazingly well, and is just an all around incredibly healthy normal and happy kid. I tell you this just so you know that although there may be complications ahead, the future is bright. Again, CONGRATS!!!
