Junks To HFS, New Line-Up Additions For JFK-FM Soon - 10/4 - <http://www.dcrtv.com/junks.jpg> DCRTV's been told by usually reliable sources that Infinity-owned WJFK-FM's "Sports Junkies" will be making the move to co-owned alternative rocker WHFS to do the morning show. And unlike their evening 106.7 show, over on 99.1 they will be playing music. Lanham-based HFS, which posts anemic ratings in the DC market, recently jettisoned its morning man Graeme. We've asked a few area radio folks and they tell us that the Junks' will have an uphill climb in that the sports talk quartet doesn't have any music-oriented radio show experience, and that they'll be going up against heavy-hitters like Howard Stern. Plus, the Junks are DC oriented and HFS gets the bulk of its listeners from the Baltimore market, according to recent ratings round-ups. Also, we hear that Fairfax's WJFK-FM will soon announce new midday and evening programming - and that the middays (which have been featuring Junks' reruns) will not necessarily be hosted by a woman, as has been the talk that's been going around. By the way, DCRTV's been deluged with a flood of rumors (disinformation?) regarding 99.1 and 106.7 of late. They have included "reports" of a new syndicated from NYC morning show at HFS, and the Junks staying at JFK-FM. Enjoy the ride.....

During the junkies replay today there was a commercial saying that a new beautiful former model, former beauty, etc etc... was coming to JFK to pretty the place up. I dont know about the junks moving to that time since most of them have young kids and wives that work early they stay with their kids to take care of them...the reported move to WHFS was when their contracts were up that they might be moved to a new station but after pulling in a 23 share the last book for their main demographic i dont think WJFK is thinking of moving them but who knows---I also have heard that they may syndicate WHFS with some rock station from california that plays the same music format

damn, ari beat me to posting this.

yeah so basically its only supposed rumours. they may be trusted inside infinity but nothings for sure.

if the mid day slot is open, then ron and fez may be placed there, or hopefully Ron and Fez will go back to nights. Chances are, if Ron and Fez are on at nights in NYC, and the junks move...Ron and Fez will be live in DC too.

This makes absolutely no sense. Outside of Stern, that hyena Elliot In The Morning has mornings locked up here, at least in terms of the younger market that WHFS would be aiming for...plus, it would just weaken WJFK, which makes my chances of getting R&F at all even slimmer.

One can only hope. I think personally for the Junkies that is a bad move , but fortunatly Im not a Junkies fan. Therefore I can say we are on rumor closer to having RnF live here. Who knows maybe 'NEW will fold and Ron and Fez will move to DC. It's so F'd up righ now in the radio world any rumor seems possible.

I just called the junks 7:20pm on Friday night and they can not confirm or talk about the junks move or Ron and Fez. I did notice on the WHFS website they only have 4 slots listed in their jocks lounge:

2-6pm Tim Vigin
6-10pm Matty
10- midnight Loveline
Midnight to 5:30am --Neci

It would be a mistake to move the junks off of nights.

The line up should be

Howard 6-11am
Ron and Fez live 11am -2pm replay the 1st hour 2pm to 3pm
Don and Mike 3-7pm
Junkies 7pm- 11pm
11pm- Who cares or replay a different show each night.

We want Ron and Fez live in DC.

I think it might be the other way around. A sports show always does better earlier in the day. These guys get most of their listeners from evening commuters on their way home...guys like my dad and his buddies who always complain about not being able to hear them while at work. And how much sense does it make that these guys run a sports show...but because of their time-slot they can't watch 75% of the games they talk about?

Plus it would seem to me that not everyone wants to listen to the radio while watching sports. Im sure many would like to watch than the fallowing morning or so they would like to hear the guys on the radio talk about it.

That sports thing would be true if the junkies actually talked about sports. Outside of fantasy football,baseball,basketball,etcetc they just dont talk about sports.
