View Full Version : Are Corporations Conspiring to Make Us Fat?
Maybe "conspiring" is too harsh of a word.
But, it just seems that every time I go into a store EVERYTHING SEEMS BIGGER. The other day I was in Kings and the only peaches I found were almost as big as grapefruits! Today, I was in Dunkin Donuts and asked for a small coke (in the cup kind). The lady said all we sell are the really large bottles in the case. Dunkin Donuts almost "encourages" people to eat more. When I go in there to buy one donut, they usually say to me "you can get two for the price of one".
It seems like everything in Mcdonald's and Burger King is getting supersized.
Also, what happened to President Bush's plan on encouraging people to exercise and eat right. The only thing I saw him do was see him photographed jogging for 1 hr. AHHH, that doesn't quite help the rest of Americans!

I think they are trying to get us addicted. They sell those super value meals and make you think you are getting a deal when all you are really getting is food with lots of preservatives and big ass drink that is not necessary. It's like they created it in a lab. I used to eat fast food a lot when I was younger and remember always feeling high afterwards. I thought to myself, this food is cheap and makes me feel high so I would want to go back. They are evil! Another thing, the Burger King down the street from me always looks like it is on fire. That smoke can be smelt blocks away and makes you crave the fake meaty goodness. lol

No. Eat less and use willpower.
We can't blame corporations and value-sizing for obesity.

Amen. Bteween the ages of 13 and 15, I got VERY heavy once my puberty metabolism kicked in. I constantly blamed it on a "disease" or "my large frame" or blah-blah-blah...then one day it was like, "no, I only need two large meals and a light dinner. Eff this." Started working out, got in shape, and haven't looked back since. Sure, there are a few people with oddly-wired bodies that cause them to be really heavy, but most are just lazy and want to blame anyone and everything except themselves. Put the burger down and take a walk, Fatty McFatalot.

Marilyn Monroe was a size 14, she would wear a size 8 today.
Coincidence?
I think not.

Part of it could be due to familys working later hours. Most poeple don't have the 6 o clock dinner any more and eating late doesn't help. But mostly because of laziness, between the internet, video games, and t.v. people don't go outside as much or exercise. I'm not knocking any of those things but its most likely the truth.

Corporations also own all these chain gyms/health clubs. Are they conspiring to get us fit?

I'm 5'7 and 146 pounds. So yes, the bastards are making us fat.

I hate this comparison. A size eight is not fat. And the majority of women who use this example are the kind that wear sweatpants with the elastic screaming as it holds on for dear life. Present company excluded.
