I know this is extremely sentimental and sappy, but to many it's a great memory.
My first game was in 1964..Yankees vs Washington Senators. My Dad actually had me waving at Mickey Mantle who was in the on deck circle.
He ignored me. My God, I sound like Billy Crystal!;)

Mets vs. the Reds, in either 85 or 86, and the Mets won 4-2 on a Strawberry homerun :)

In 1964, The New York Yankees were world champions. That's when it really was a game. Tom, you little snot, you kids today are stuck with prima donna players, astroturf and 7 dollar beers. 1964? A great year indeed! Mantle rocked!;)

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Mantle an alcoholic back then? Maybe if beer was more expensive he wouldn't have been! :(

Tom, there is more to life than just bad Kevin Smith films. Now go up to the blackboard and write 100 times:

Thank you. ;)

Phillies/Expos-Fan Appreciation day.

True Story....
They were calling seats out during the game-winners would receive the hat of the infielder playing that day for the Phillies. I won Steve Jeltz's hat-we got to go down onto the field during the 7th inning. I was about two feet away from Mike Schmidt when Jeltz signed the hat (still have it today).

Who cares right?

Sometime in the 1960's.

Cleon Jones and Wille Mays in the outfield. Ran towards a ball b/w them ran into each other and fell down. The ball landed way over their heads.

That may have been why the Mets were about 50 games out that year.

HK, Mays joined the Mets in 73. Are you thinking about Tommie Agee? I have to admit that the 69 Mets were incredible, and that's coming from a Yankee fan!;)

I really miss the old Yankee Stadium with the red ticket booths outside and the obstructed view seats, behind the pillars.
As for Shea, Jane Jarvis on the Thomas Organ!

Mets vs Pirates back in 87 or 88 I believe. It was back when the Pirates were good. Anyway Dave Magadan hit a game-winning home run to win the game in the ninth. I can't believe Magadan is still hanging around.

I can't honestly say I remember the first game I ever attended, but the first game I can vividly remember watching was during the '73 NLCS - Mets vs. the Cincinnati Reds. Pete Rose slid hard into 2nd base to break up a double play attempt, and Mets SS Buddy Harrelson took offense. Fisticuffs ensued, and at that moment, I had a life changing revelation - I jumped ship and became a Cincinnati Reds fan. It broke my Dad's heart, and to this day, we make it a point to go to Shea every year when the Reds are in town. The winner breaks the loser's balls all the way back to Jersey.

I'm not sure what year it was, maybe 1977, but I remember it was Reds - Mets and it was Seaver's first time pitching back at Shea Stadium. Needless to say, the Reds won.

June 8, 1969. Mickey Mantle Day at Yankee Stadium. It was a double header. I think it was the Washington Senators, but I'm not sure. Ceremony was in between games. I think the Yanks lost both games. Also went to a Mayor's Trophy game the same year and shook Tug Mcgraw's hand. I just don't remember which game was the first.

Oh yeah, The Mayor's Trophy games. I used to get in schoolyard brawls every year with the Met fans.
