When and why did certain words change meaning?

Some examples: When & Why did DICK go from being a nickname for Richard to a slang term for Penis? When & Why did GAY go from meaning Happy to Homosexual? When & Why did SPUNK go from meaning Energetic to Sperm?

There's probably a million more examples that people could call in with and somewhere out there someone might actually be able to explain some of them.
