I love Sweet Lou and he didn't get a chance to even talk to the Mets. It would have been a match made in heaven. But ala, he was screwed and the Mets were screwed.

We got Art Howe. Not an exciting pick to say the very least. He's too passive for my taste and the Mets needed a manager like Piniella to kick their old asses! He's good with youth and if he didn't have the Big Three: Mulder, Zito and Hudson... he wouldn't have had the back to back 100+ seasons! It's still all up in the air for me as a huge Met fan.

Does anyone think this will turn out to be the second coming of Jeff Torborg? I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I wanted Lou but we got Howe. We'll all see.

I am a Met fan(ouch) and I think Wilpon acted like a pussy. He should have pulled a friggin Leon Hess. Talk to Pinella without permission, sign him as a v.p or some shit and worry about the consequences later.

I'm a Met's fan since DAY 1 and I've never seen such a fucked-up organization. First of all I never would have gotten rid of Bobby V. Phillips was and is the problem. Now he has a puppet as a field manager. Time will tell how Art Howe will do. I leave all fellow Mets fans with this ....6 post season apperances in 42 years. Does anyone think 2003 will any different? <P> <P>

Hey at this point i will take anything... Lou was my first choice but Seattle wanted too much just to talk to Lou...Howe is a great manager.. he took a bunch of no buddies and have been a dominate force in the west.. you can't blame Philips for last season.. He brought in exactly what was needed.. it is up to the coaches to get them playing the right way... As for Howe never winning anything, look at lou with seattle ... they never won dick while he head them up...

Second thing I am cringing at is how Wilpon is trying to be Steinbrenner now...dude, I am a long time Met fan but Mr. Wilpon, you are no George Steinbrenner!!!

Mookie should be a manager by now the guy has done his time!

I think Hojo is managing the Brooklyn Cyclones in A - ball and I think Bob Ojeda is his pitching coach. Maybe they'll be up eventually. I just hope they don't let Vince Coleman near any of the players.

Wally Backman on the other hand is the Birmingham Barons manager and is doing well. Two great Mets of yesteryear and would have been good alternative choices.

Art Howe is growing on me. Hope we resign Alfonzo and do somethings duringthe wnter especially rid the Mets of the Rey Rey Disease.

God help me if Fonzy ends up on the Yankees!
