Welp, as I posted a month ago, I finally got my liscence. Yesterday I got approved for a car loan, so now I need to find some CHEAP insurance. So far 3 places that have responded to me have quote these rediculious prices. Anyone know of a reasonable priced insurance company in the North Jersey area?!?

Congrats Creepy!
AIG is good, but like a lot of insurance companies, they're leaving NJ in a couple of years.
New Jersey Manufacturers is another, but you have to have a clean record (no points, no accidents) for them to even consider you.
Good luck!

Try NJ Manufacturers or NJCURE.com
No matter what, you have to have a good record or it'll be over $1000.

CreepyGyrl,
We have an Insurance Agent whom we have used for 16 years and my brother in-laws who have businesses have been using him long before that...
He is very down to earth, friendly, and has been in the Insurance Business a long time...not only Auto but Life and Home...
A phone call could never hurt, i have no doubt that he will be honest and will be able to provide you with the information you need to base your decision...
His name is Tom DiSalvatore and his number is 201-986-1555 ext 14...
I have nothing to gain from this, he's just been an Excellent Agent for a long time...
if you want to rfnet/e-mail me I could provide you my name so you can make him aware of how you found out about him...
GOOD LUCK!

Don't ask me. I pay 3900/yr for basic liability on an 88 chevy corsica. I do have 2 speeding tickets and one accident, all in the year 2000 though. I've been a good boy ever since and next cycle I will have had my liscense for 3 years so I hope to get a bit of a break.

On the insurance matter, I can vouch for Tom DiSalvatore too. I have used him for 18 years myself. He has helped me with insurance on both my car and house. I wouldn't even think of going elsewhere, because I have gotten such great personal service, and yes, very down to earth. He's in Paramus. 201-985-1555 x114. FYI, right now, he's out of town -- until October 31.

I'm a little weirded out that that last response came 3 years to the day after the original post. What does it all mean?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I found it a little strange myself...I was looking for my agent, whose number I lost. When I did a search for him on google, I came to this message board....I noticed the three years to the day too, but still felt compelled to write -- hey, he's a damn good agent! And I'm a loyal client! Happy Halloween to one and all.

Geico is now in NJ, has been for awhile, but I lost patience with the online form on their website, so, I'm just sticking with my down-to-earth agent, Tom DiSalvatore, in Paramus, NJ. Now that I'm finally getting a new car instead of driving around in my old heap, I'm sure I'll have to pay a lot for insurance compared to what I'm paying. I'm can't decide if I should get a Subaru Impreza or Kia

Geico.

Filling out the online thing is a snap and when I switched it saved me about $1500 a year.

Everyone is switching to them now. Progressive was the second cheapest I could find.
