Why does beer or any alcohol for that matter make you poop?

I don't know why it is Gwen but it's true, I was actually thinking that this morning after a long night of drinking.

An intruiging question, as alcohol always affects me that way - it's why I don't drink.

I did some quick research on the topic and discovered that drinking alcohol causes temporary gastritis which leads to increased production of acid in the stomach and the squirts. Drinking alcohol on an empty stomach can cause stomach and intestinal bleeding which can also lead to diarreah.

I seem to recall reading about sulfates in alcohol also causing stomach cramps and diarreah but I didn't see anything on the topic in the quick search I did.
