I dont want Ron and Fez in D.C. [Archive]

I love the Ron and Fez show, and share many of our areas joy over thier recent move to 7pm here. But as a fan, I dont want them to broadcast in D.C. I cant do anything with the show other than call in, so it's not like ill be gaining anything if they move here. I like the characters and shenangins people like Rooster, Pantera and all the other board members who go in the studio bring. Ron and Fez are new york kinda guys, they seem like it on the air, and theyd be in fairfax virginia, a small suburb outside of DC. Ron and Fez are welcome to visit, but i wouldnt want them permanetly. Id rather have the NY listeners have the show there, than the D.C. listners who havent carried thier show live in about 3 years.

I hope ron and fez stay in ny, it wouldnt be right if they were in dc.

i don't want them there either. But from the way things sound that's the way it's going. Does anyone else get friggin depressed when they start thanking everyone like it's some kind of farewell speech? I hated radio before i started listening to o&a and r&f now when they start talking like that i'm like what the hell am i gonna do? i drive around in a van all day. i can only listen to "arials" and those 2 P.O.D. songs so many times...but that new nirvana song is the shit...where was i? oh yeah if they leave that'll suck.

I agree with DC Reed. I love having the boys here a couple of times in the month, but I would definitely miss all of the regulars. Hopefully Krok can pick them up. I don't want them to leave NYC.

I'd love to have the boys here in my backyard, but I think the show would suffer. It's New York to the core. My letter's going out as soon as my printing is working this weekend.

I kinda feel the same. I am so happy we finally got Ron & Fez live again in D.C., but they have established their rep in NY. I asked them today what was gonna happened to D.C. if they leave NY (Carlos) and they don't seem too happy to leave D.C. to come down here. If only NY would forget about O&A and AT LEAST give don and mike a chance, you would have 2 timeslots filled and have a chance of keeping WNEW a talk station. this sucks....

Silera, as a R&F listener I wont say anything wrong. Just remember this is a R&F board, not an O&A board. D.C. gives D&M their biggest ratings and we love them. I could say a lot of bad things about O&A, but I wont. Thats behind us. But what I said is true. If D&M were still in NY, it would be less likely WNEW would change lineups

Finally , The Great ones have come back to Washington D.C.!

I wish a lot of you R & F listeners would realize the great push that O & A gave the show. This is the Ron Fez board, I am quite aware of that, but please notice how much of a push Ron and Fez give Bro Joe, Norton, Regan, Vos and all the other show regulars. There's a reason for it.

As far as Don and Mike go, if they were on in New York now, their ratings would still suck.

I gave them a chance.

I listened for 2 months from 10-2, and they bored me.

Anyway, Ron and Fez gotta live. We know they love us and they know NY adores them. I think the NY listeners have made that more than obvious throughout the phantom timeslots we've endured to listen to this show. In the end they will go where the job is. I've been loyal to this show for so long, I can't remember a time when they weren't on my radio, no matter what time of day it may have been. Being that I already lost one show that occupied much of my free time, losing one that I find considerably funnier would suck beyond belief. Those behind the letter writing effort deserve all of our collective respect. We owe it to the show to give it a shot. I hope it works. But, if they leave NY, it don't make 'em bad people.

O & A and R & F are two great shows, but completely different. Liking one does not have to be exclusive of liking the other. 
R & F don't owe O & A anything, they're a great show in their own right. The point being that the two shows got along, and worked well together and still do.

I don't remember Opie saying anything remotely funny in 2 years. Anyway O&A are old news, I agree that the D&M thing could work. I also think R&F should have gone in and taken over the 3-7 shift. Unfortunatly everyone was worried about how that would look to O&A, so they sacrificed their big shot.

This is a business, baby!!! It's all about $$$$ and if they thought Don and Mike would have done better in the #1 radio market, they would have put them in that time slot without reservation.

They failed here two, TWO times. Aint no way in hell D & M would be the savior of WNEW. On the flipside, NEW threw in the towel a long time ago... no way it takes 2 months to fill a timeslot.

I love R & F... listening to them is something I look forward to every day.. but I am willing to let them go. Like Alkey said... brothas need to work. If that entails moving to DC, so be it. I just want for them what's best, and being part of a dying station for circumstances beyond their control is not ideal at all.

I agree that the D&M thing could work.

I agree with Johnny. Unfortunately for OnA most DnM fans never could stomach them. But in this case RF have proven to be more accesible. Don and Mike followed by RF could give Ron and Fez and JFK the sucess they deserve. All they need is the 3.5-4.0 rating in the right demo.

I still wanna be selfish.... cuz I don't want them to go. But I'm not gonna be deulsional about it. WNEW as we know it is done. Format change is inevitable... they took a lot of hits on the duckets from cancelling O and A.... They would have made some moves to fill out the schedule more if they were thinking otherwise. We all know Tom Leykis is just an alternative to dead air (I would prefer the latter) I have no concrete basis for that speculation other than just plain common sense. It just seems like they're liquidating themselves in order to start fresh. Good luck.. the day R & F leave is the last time I listen to that station.

Bottom line.. it was a good run. I seriously doubt I will ever again come across a lineup that I could listen to all day long.... the way it was the day before O and A left the air.
