Night of Frights Review

Well....

A good night had by all, it would seem.
I got there around 8:30, big lines, one for VIP, one for Ticket Holders, but no problem; everybody got in.
There were peope with letters for those in line to complete and mail to the big wigs about the R+F show. Nice Job.
Inside the place filled up; a whole lotta people but you could still move around.
Mikey D intros R+F; they come up, do their thing, point out some people and costumes and tell whats happening.
Then it time for SuperStar to come up for a round of "Good/No Good".
Then someone wanted to say hello and Christ, its Al Dukes in Boxing Outfit coming onstage and gettig thouroughly booed. Hysterical.
Roonie at one point said he needed a light for his cigar, and no one could find one, until a certain former WNEW personality came onstage and lit it, to a HUGE roar and chant.
Band of Failure was very good; two ladies came up to sang, sorry I didn;t pay much attention.
I sopt Super-Patty; Sweet Melissa, Mira, Too Cute, Moshin and others circulating.
It was nice in that R+F were very available to the crowd, walking around a bit and getting photos taken, etc. Very Cool Guys!
Joshua Tree played [you guessed it] U2 songs and were very good, unless you don't like U2.
Orange Ball of Failure Costume Contest went to a guy wearing a four foot diameter ball; there were others in orange t-shirts, but this guy was Very Round.
Best Costume went to a dude looking windblown [horizontal tie; inside-out umbrella].
Sexiest costume was controversial; a very cute girl dressed as a cowgirl won, but a few other who WOW'ed got much bigger hands and the crowd didn't exactly dig the fact that she won.
Then the guy who does the Black Earl Song came up and did it with R+F and Earl doing backup vocals. NICE!
Anywhooo...I'm forgetting a lot and i'm sure its out of order here but it was a fun night. Hopefully not the last.
Thanx Ron, Fez, and Crew...you gave this listener a great night of entertainment!

Tonight I had an amazing time. I had the opportunity to talk to Ron & Fez, Mikey D and his lovely wife Helen, and many other members of the board. I'd like to especially thank Swiss Miss for agreeing to take pictures w/ my friend Bianca. Joshua Tree was amazing, the big orange band of failure was phenomenal, and I met a lot of great people from here on the board. I hope this won't be the last time that I get to meet the people that post here. <P>
P.S. For those people who were drinking a lot and who may not remember me, I was the guy walking around in construction boots and blue overalls. <P>

Mike, thanks for the update on the night. Unfortunately this goes down as the first event I happened to miss. I even hit all the pub crawls and night of fights. It really sucked that I couldn't get tix. Luck of the draw I guess and it allowed others to check out the craziness. Hope to hit the next event (THERE WILL BE ANOTHER!).

...other highlights now that I slept a good 4 hours.... <P>
1. Billy Staples costume was a let-down; R+F said he always ruled with costumes, but he came as...I think...a Chicken Parm Sandwich, and brought his girlfriend [?] onstage for a lip-lock that went over like a turd in a punch bowl. Oh Well... <P>
2. R+F DID wear costumes! Well; onstage they said they did; so they turned around, Fez slipped on a Pink Wig and Ron put on glasses and they turned around and...Holy Shit..they were Jack and Kelly Osbourne! Friggin Hilarious. 3. Seeing Mira inside and saying hello. She was all wrapped up in a coat because of the cold, but later sported a costume consisting of butterly [angel?] wings and a very elaborate liquid latex top. Yes, that's what she wore as a top; liquid latex. Mira, you look great, but better yet, you were very nice when I approached you and Too Cute! Quite a vision. 3. Some of Ron and Fez's running commentary was priceless, and I wish I could remember more of it. One Classic: after one female contestant refused the crowds loud requests to WOW, Ron said something like, theres no F-ing way you're winning this contest with an attitude like that... HAH!

4. Nice Costume Turnout! Just about everybody got into it, dressing up: some cool ones, A Statue of Liberty Snow Globe, Ghostbusters Guy, a few Reservior Dogs dudes, Three Amigos, a guy dressed as those refigerator poetry magnets, and the funniest of all I saw that night, A Horse Faced person carrying her new-born little baby Horse. Sarah Jessica Parker was the costume to beat, in my opinion!

Last night was great and I got to work two hours late today!

Some of my favorite moments of the Night of Frights were:

1) Meeting a bunch of new board members. Thats always a plus!

2) Getting all those letters from all of you.

3) The Orange Band of Failure kicked ass, and watching Gvac strip on stage was classic!

4) Quinn did a GREAT job singing "Back in the chain gang"

5) Joshua Tree ROCKED!!

6) Anytime Ron and Fez were on stage garrentees laughter!! And they had the best costume of the night. Ron was Jack Osborne and Fez was Kelly Osborne. SO FUNNY!

7) And of corse....Brother Joe, Black Earl, Ron and Fez all singing "Patches" was great!

Yep I was just asphixiated on the aspect of ADF and the Dukes man standing and talking and just being jolly. It's was a sentimental moment.

Quinn just kicked extreme major ass with that wonderful voice of her. She's a gorgeous human being with a beautiful voice.

Shorty's my twin and we both made a fantastic Strawberry Shortcake. It was very cool meeting you!

Another Highlight.... <P>
A girl comes up onstage for the 'hottest girl' costume contest; everything looks cool, shes wearing a sexy outfit, the she announces she is wearing a vibrating panty-thingy thats has a friggin' remote control. So, Ron asks for the remote control; hits the button, and she spasms in delight. To make sure shes just not faking, Ron then proceeds to put the microphone as close to her camel toe as possible; hits the button, and through the Hard Rock PA you hear: BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.....!!!! Hilarious. Not to be outdone, Ron then says 'watch this' and then he chucks the remote control into the crowd. priceless.

This was my first-ever R&F Event and let me tell you, the folks I met from the board (including all of my brother's friends, you know who you are) all kicked ass and I can't wait until I can hang out with y'all again.

Some of those hot-chick costumes were, for lack of a better word, awesome! I would NEVER be brave enough to go around in a liquid latex top - big shout-out to Nurse Mira for having the guts I haven't got(!)

I agree that the bands kicked major ass, and Quinn is a wonderful singer (thanks so much for sharing that with us!) . . . of course, the highlight of the night for me was getting to shake Fezzy's hand and a hug from Ron.

Wow. I am SOOOOO starstruck.

Also, many many many thanks to:
* Fuzzybutt for saving me from those creepy, frat-boy types in the button-downs

* FMeBoobs and the rest of the gang (I think we all introduced each other as real names, so I don't want to blow anyone's cover) were also VERY protective and made me feel welcome enough to want to hang out with y'all again =)

* And HUGE thanks to my ride home . . . I missed that last train home out of Penn Station even before we got to the Dwayne Reed. You sir, are a true gentleman and have proven that chivalry is not dead . . . just comatose.

I sure as heck hope this won't be my last R&F experience, so as extra insurance, I'm going to buckle down and write that "save Ron & Fezzy" letter.

Both bands rocked.
Meeting the Horde King, it was late, I was pretty much in the bag, but it was still very cool.
The absolute biggest highlight of the night had to be Alkey grabbin' my package. How'd it feel to hold a real piece of meat you Irish curse havin' maaahfucker?

HAd a blast last night, as much as I didnt look like I was for a while I was just tired and Woried about what time Id get home and how much sleep Id get, which so happend to be a little Over three hours. How Im still awake right now, and How I even made it to work EARLIER than usual I havent a clue. It was nice seeing the whole gang again, and It was a pleasure meeting some new faces, Shorty, I swear It had nothing to do with the size of your umm well you know that I tok a shot in the dark and guessed who you were. -Ag1247 really worked the pimp ensemble! You should have stolen that cowboy dude's hat. I should have taken your bowler hat though and like Gwen and others said... went for the Odd Job deal! I always get flack for that one. ::neck snap::
-LTRooster - Finally got a chance to meet my boy after such a long ass time! I pictured you taller budday! Eventhough we didn't talk much it was wonderful to meet a true American hero like yourself. :)
-Gepetto (sp?)/Boy_Toy/Sorbo - Those abs are real, Mr. Toy Builder? Great meeting you bud. I wonder what your Florida Tourist would have looked like. After the main event at the Rock, did you go back to check out that lady at Hooters? I should have been there for moral support right? ::wink, wink::
-Tenbatsuzen - You make for a pretty cool Terminator. Try not to leave weapons around Doogie though, lol. Oh yeah, the prices for beer was fucked up... so I didn't drink that much. Bastards!

-CYYYFYYY - Yeah I made an appearance! And no, I did not find "real" friends and forgot my board family (I could never), Mr. Lower East Side Ron Pennington.
-Elle Quinn - Nice to finally meet you and I am very flattered, you think I do a decent job for the board. I try. As expected I loved your voice. It's definitely not karaoke... keep it up. You just might have a career in it.
-FM Jeff - Finally got to meet the co-creator of the lifeblood for me which is the board. Nice doctor costume. Like I told you before I left, see you back in under two weeks.
-Scorpion and Scott - Sorry you guys fell short with your Before and After Billy Staples in the Orange Ball of Failure Costume contest. Even with many of the board members input at Hooters prior with additions of black marker sayings on your back we couldn't rig a victory for a fellow board member. Bro, you can hang in my house if you want to play with a PS2, lol.

WoW.. What a Great TIME I had!!!!!!

FIRST of all.. seeing the guys do their bits live was absolutely KEWL!!!..

SECOND, finally meeting everyone from the board and other regular callers was also sweet!!! There were some I didn't get to meet, or hang with, that's either because I wasn't introduced or was too shy! :)
I had a fun time, took just a bit of pix, since Double A batteries don't go so well w/ digital cams.

I have to thank RON for being such a darling and letting me make-out w/ his cheek for a minute.. *lol* and for introducing me to Elvis! (he's so dreamy) *hehe*

Christy was so nice.. being a party-guide to me, introducing me to almost everyone.

I suppose the more I attend the more I'd get to know everyone.

I had a wonderful time last night too, It was great seeing all the terrific costumes, I always like to see people who have far more originality than I <I was was on the 4 or 5 kitty cats there, I had on all black and didn't say very much, mostly hung out upstairs drinking ginger ale and being shy> I will be having nightmares about that evil clown for the next few years. It's nice to know there are other girls with a twisted sense of humor out there. Hope I get to know some of you more at the next event! I had such a great time that I don't know where to begin.

Obviously, I have to thank Ron and Fez for putting on such a great show and for providing a forum for the band to play. We've played 2 live gigs in our short time together, and both have been to sold out crowds at the Hard Rock in Manhattan. Amazing.

I also met a lot of board members for the first time last night, and that's always a treat. All the "old-timers" are always a trip to hang out with too.

Now that all of my whinning is done:

I'm proud of the guys. From the halloween bar crawl last year with a reasonable sizec crowd in the basement of Karavas Place to packing out the Hard Rock this year just says how much support the boys have in New York now.

It was great seeing the regulars, the regulars who never come out, and the newbies last night. Shorty and Smiley are quickly climbing up the ranks, can't wait for our playdates. Latinspice, it was nice finally meeting you. I even met the girl in the rubber cop outfit waiting for the contest.

I'm proud that we had such good representation in the contest. I'm glad Jackie got her props on the air too. And I think that's about it right now.

I had a fantistic time at the Night of Frights. I meet a lot of new people all of them were great (maybe the beer helped all our moods)got to see some familier faces (always nice) the bands were both great, the ladies were hot, Ron & Fez are always the best. If there not on stage just killing the crowd they were in the crowd taking time to meet and talk to people. This was my first offical event and I can discribe how much fun I had. If I left anything out its just because there was so much. <P>

Unfortunately, I have to hug the wall at parties, b/c I'm worried that someone will accidently bump into my back. I learned the necessity of keeping my back safe the hard way.

this was my first r & f event. we tried to get into the big ass night of fights, but the line was too damn long. Great party at the hard rock! Hi all,

This is my first post, and The Big Ass Night of Frights was my first RF event. Even though I got my balls busted on stage, I had an amazing time!
I was the "man in the wind". By the time I was called out on stage I was completely trashed!! and when Ron asked who I was taking on the trip, I made the mistake of saying my friend Sal. That was all it took... R&F went (no pun intended) straight to the gay material... and a good laugh was had at my expense. Well, I guess thats a small price to pay for a trip to Iceland.

For all those who've said mine wasn't the best costume.... I agree. There were a lot of great costumes - Thor, The Pimp Ape, The Pedophile Priest and Hot Nun just to name a few. But for whatever reason, they chose me!
I've done some reasearch and it seems Iceland is a much nicer place than I'd ever imagined. As of now, its up in the air as to who I'll take. I did meet a couple of interesting women at the party, and perhaps I'll take one of them instead of Sal!!!
Whoever I take I'll be sure to represent the show well.
The party was an amazing time. I meet a lot of cool new people, and I look foward to future RF events!
