Just a reminder: The WNEW format change is coming soon and we really have to get the letter writing campaign into high gear. Some people have written to me and said it's a "waste of time". That's crap! Corporate America responds to the consumer, that's a fact.
This is a fan site and I truly believe that priority # 1 should be the letter writing campaign. NYC radio has already suffered enough with the "cancelation" of Opie and Anthony. Let's do what we can to keep Ron and Fez here. Okay, I'm done. Now start writing! Let your voice be heard!

It's time I write something about this on here...My two cents...
He's right guys. Do what's right and write! Alright?
You've may have been listeners for years, maybe just a few months, maybe just a few days, but no matter what, once you listen you become a fan.
These guys have been going at it for a long time now. Whenever you need a laugh, you know you're going to get one when you tune in. They've given us a lot...laughs, friendships, good times, places to vent, mingle, and pass the time. For some they have even given people a sense of belonging. How priceless is that?
Here are two people, with their crew, who work endlessly to entertain. They carried the weight of a station on their backs. They've taken a beating getting passed from one slot to another. You know what, they don't have to stay here. The fact of the matter is, they WANT to stay here.
These guys are great. They're talented, hysterical, in touch with their audience, and just too kind to everyone. Show them your support. Write because you want them to stay just as much as they want to stay. Write because it's Ron, it's Fez, it's a great show and you know it. They are the best thing going, TODAY.
They're here, but don't fear, 'cause if you write they will not disappear...
this has been my erole-a-torial. Thaaaank You!

Heckler and Erole, I musyt thank you...you have showed me the light. I knew that I loved Ron and Fez, yet I lost sight of why. And tonight I was trying to sell them and the board to another person yet I forgot the reason why I loved them...thye are funny and hilarious. I forgot that they started as the small guys from a small market yet were supported by two guys from a large, yet unsupported market (O and A). Ron and Fez are funny...just needed support to get where they are, and NEVER bitched about where they are...just took changes like true troopers (Sorry Chick, but you didnt do this), and prospered wherever they went (Two a days the best). My onyl regret with Ron adn Fez is that I was not in college when they first premiered...Yet I still listened nonetheless. I sooooooo love these guys, they make me loff whenever or wahtever...these guys are the best and WNEW would be complete jackasses to get rid of them... THat is all I have to add

Ron and Fez were both extremely appreciative of the letter writing campaign we've organized here on the board, and Fez even said "Letters DO work"...Don't let the boys down.

They want nothing more than to remain right where they belong - in the greatest city in the world.

i have a question, but i
wasnt sure where to post it.
what about writing to any of
the shows sponsors? do
they have any major
sponsors that would be
worth trying to influence?
going to the source of the
station's money might be
another approach. just an
idea.

She had like two fans and they wrote letters and were able to bring her back to WNEW.

everyone - from my own experience, letter writing has a great impact - ive worked on capitol hill and on different presidential campaigns - i have seen guys change thier stances on an issue based on ONE LETTER. There are thousands of BAC holders, and thousands on this board. We can have a big impact - without doubt, the station is changing formats. all we have to do is show the station managers that giving our buddys 4 hours a night is financially worthwhile to them. talk about sponsors you have bought from, stickers you have posted, and friends you have turned on to the show. my letter is going out tommorow. it will take only a little of your time to write one. remember in florida how every vote counted - well, every letter counts - and yours may be the one that keeps the boys on the air. we need them on here, and they need you to write.

Heckler is right. It's a
concept that is so hard to
understand through out all
of life, but doing YOUR part
DOES make a difference,
as long as EVERYONE DOES IT.
Example: "So what if I throw
my empty soda can out the
window of my car. One can
is not gonna ruin the Earth."
MAYBE NOT THAT ONE
CAN, BUT if everyone
throws a can out their
window, the place starts to
look like SHIT. It's lazy
bastards and naysayers
who, out of helplessness and dispair, convince themselves that it's all a waste of time. Look at the Opie & Anthony
rallies. Six people showed
up to the last one, and it
WAS a waste of time. Why?
Cuz no one showed up.
Don't be a no show in this
letter-writing campaign. It's
our LAST CHANCE. This is
IT. If it doesn't work, taking
those 10 minutes to write
up a letter didn't kill you, and at least you'll know you
tried. It's better than sitting back and letting other
people decide for you. GO!
Write 5 letters and have
friends sign them. This is
CRUNCH TIME, LAST CALL. How does the idea of a Farewell New York show sound to you? Sounds
pretty fuckin' SHITTY to me.
Write!

Years ago ONE housewife complained about "Married With Children" on FOX and started a huge controversy. We may or may not succeed but we have to try. It's that simple. I'm a realist, I know that a decision has probably been made regarding WNEW and "The Ron and Fez Show". However, I don't have to like it and I have the power to voice my complaint. We all do.
I'm mad as hell and yes, Viacom/CBS/Infinity will be hearing from me. That's the American way.

Uhm, she sorta failed. Miserably. In fact, the exact opposite of what she wanted happened: the show became even bigger than before.

So...should we try reverse psychology then? Say that R&F are a menace to our children? That'll get some press...

Now if you're just sitting on your ass pissing on our cause cuz you think its a "waste of time", then you can't complain if we don't get to keep Ron and Fez here.

I have sent this via email to wnew. I will send via post in tomorrow's mail:

Dear Mr. Sykes:

As you may be aware, fans of the Ron and Fez show are quite upset over what they believe to be an impending move out of NY to Washington DC. I strongly urge you to reconsider any such move if this is truly happening.
I became a fan of the show long ago, and make it a point to find it and keep it on whenever they air. This is the only WNEW show I now listen to. In the future, despite whatever programs are on, I anticipate it would continue to be the only show I will listen to on WNEW. They are simply worth finding and listening to. I have met these gentleman, and they are a unique team. I believe that they will achieve great things in the future. I strongly urge you to keep them in NY, and facilitate that move as you also introduce a new music format. Certainly KRock has shown that a music station can support a talk radio shift.
These two entertainers weathered the 9-11 tragedy with unsurpassed grace. They endured WNEW's meltdown, working eight hours on-air, accepting ridiculous and whimsical shift changes, and have only supported the corporate mandates. For two comedians, these guys are top notch professionals. I'd want them working for me. I think you should too.
Be sure that I will set my station to whereever they land in NY. Do the right thing and support your employees, and support the audience that loves them so.

Sincerely ,

My letter:

John Sykes CEO
Infinity Broadcasting
1515 Broadway
51st floor
New York NY 10036

To Mister Sykes:

I write to you in regards to the Ron and Fez show on WNEW FM. The upcoming format change implies that this specific radio show will be moved out of New York. It is imperative that this change does not occur. The Ron and Fez show has a large fan base in the tri-state area, and to move the show, is to bring about much disappointment and failure.

Ron and Fez are the shining stars in an otherwise mediocre talk radio industry. Since the September terrorist attacks, Ron and Fez have supported and enlightened their listening audience. To remove them from New York is to remove hope from a suffering city.

Unlike other talk shows that aim to shock their audiences with behaviors that are synonymous with a five year old child's sense of humor, Ron and Fez aim for higher quality and mature entertainment. As a professional in the field of education, I find that the Ron and Fez show is the only current radio talk show that is witty and shows genuine concern about its listening audience.

New York needs Ron and Fez. Instead of moving them out of the state, perhaps syndication would answer your ratings problems. Once other states pick up on this radio show, I can assure you that the ratings will escalate and they will become very successful. Please do not remove Ron and Fez from New York because their roots are there. They will be more successful in New York with creative advertising and support from your company.

I ask you not to relocate the Ron and Fez show. There are other ways to fix your formatting problems. If you remove them from their home state, you will surely only see failure and distress. Ron and Fez are quality artists with talent you will not find anywhere else. Save them before it is too late.

Sincerely,

Hi, everyone. I posted this as it's own topic, but I thought that it should also be said here. Hope it doesn't piss anyone off.

Basically, the letter writing campaign is a great thing! And, it's awesome that so many people are writing in.

But, it's a strong likelihood that there are people from Infinity who check out this board. And, if everyone keeps mentioning how many letters they are sending, then Infinity is just going to assume that the number of letters they have received is far less than the number of R&F fans out there. In other words, instead of realizing that they got 5,000 letters from R&F fans, they'll just assume that they've received a ton of letters from a smaller number of people who just wrote 10 or so letters each.

So, please keep writing on behalf of Ron & Fez. But also try to keep it quiet if you're sending more than one letter...

Just my two cents... Thanks for your time.
