SPY REPORT: O&A offered the man show!

From a source inside Comedy Central that I am confident of:

O&A were offered the hosting jobs for the Man Show on Comedy Central. Old hosts Jimmy and Adam are apparently moving on to other projects. Viacom lawyers apparently stepped in and told O&A that they couldn't take the job.

Now, aside that fans will jump up and down about how O&A would have been back on the air (TV, not radio) the *real* interesting part is that Comedy Central is part owned by Viacom. *That* means that insiders at Viacom are *NOT* all that concerned about the "Backlash Issue". If that were the case, *no* entity within Viacom would be considering O&A for jobs. Clearly TV in the form of Comedy Central was interested. It was the radio division that killed it (ie. Infinity).

In my *opinion* a number of things are implied by this.

First: O&A are still marketable... as demonstrated by the parent coporation (Viacom) of the company that "cancelled" them (Infinity).

Second: Infinity wouldn't let them do it. Yes, it could just be for legal reasons. Or...?

Third: This could have been a way for O&A to do something while waiting for the WNEW situation to work itself out (the FCC, court case etc).

Finally: I know there are a lot of fans who are looking for a sliver of hope O&A will return. They will. Guaranteed. If an arm of Viacom was conidering them so will others. From what I heard, Comedy Central was hot for this to happen.

I dont think either one of the guys would have wanted the show. Sure the show was is funny at times, but it is always full of obvious and easy humor. Nothing original. Opie and Anthony are original thinkers and their originality isnt allowed on t.v. There is a butt load more money to be made in radio anyway.

i didn't hate them, i hated the show. i fealt they did a few things that for me made the show less enjoyable and i hated what they were becoming. i think this may have had some potential, although they could definatly not completely copy the style of jimmy and adam, it just wouldn't work.

I'm glad they f'ed themselves out of t.v and radio. Word on the street is that Viacom has been looking to buy Comedy Central, that is one of the reasons the deal was dropped. I agree with Drudge, they were funny at one time and crumbled under the pressure.

I want to apologize for my earlier contribution to this thread. Ron and Fez are better than those two in my opinion. R&F are unique and they made it on their own. They didnt copy anyone. O & A are great, but I never miss Ron and Fez and I cant say that about any other broadcast be it television or radio. R & F are originators, radiators, prognasticators, masturbators,and Fez loves his fiance...what more do we need?
