Memories...

Just the other day I was looking in a drawer and found a photograph of someone, and all of a sudden I started remembering. It was my old girlfriend wearing this silly yellow hat out at Jones beach. We were at a Neil Yound concert. Jones Beach was where we had our first date. That afternoon a friend of mine took her picture by the water, yes, the picture I found in the drawer. I hadn't seen her in a long time, but I was looking at the picture and remembering that weekend in New York.

Has ANYONE else come accross a photograph or an artifact of an old friend/love that got them remembering and feeling more than a tad nostalgic?

To me, seeing that picture was like a still shot from a film about ghosts. It made me sad.

I'm not allowed to talk about it because it would be considered spam, because OBVIOUSLY no one here has ever been in a relationship that was lost due to being and/or taking the other partner for granted -- how silly.

Funny thing, that just happened to me the other day. I was looking through a file cabinet for old tax returns, and I found some old pictures. One was of me as a 6th grader - I was a cheerleader, and I had pigtails in that picture. Made me want to put my hair in pigtails again and break out some pom poms ;)

they began another round of layoffs this week at my company so over the weekend i started cleaning up my cube area and desk...I came across my first notebook from 1988 and a couple of my Performance Reviews from 1990 and 1991...

Anytime I go through stuff to get rid of, I get stuck reading old journals. UGH!

A couple of weeks ago I had a friend come over to help me get rid of things. It helped a lot. He wouldn't "let" me get stuck on bad memories.

received an e-mail on my blackberry from my Manager this morning(i work evenings) stating that two people in my dept were let go and they would be the only two...
one of the guys was helping me with a satellite equip problem over the phone last night from midnight to 1:30am today, he had 23 years, he took it well but I knew he was hurting inside...

i was cleaning up "just in case"...
